He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 746

Sylvia must have used her old connections in Country A to book that premium suite well in advance. Which raised the question: why did she arrange a room out here so early? What exactly was her agenda for being in this country for so long?

Julian made a mental note of it. He immediately pulled out his phone and texted his local assistant, Katie, instructing her to dig into Sylvia’s recent movements. His intuition told him there was an ulterior motive behind her early arrival.

Seeing him staring thoughtfully down the hall, Scarlett nudged him playfully. "What's wrong? Uncomfortable seeing my ex-husband sharing a room with his ex?"

Knowing she was joking, Julian quickly masked his thoughts and replied with perfect sincerity, "Of course not. Why would that bother me? The only thing that would make me uncomfortable is if you were sharing a room with him."

His smooth remark made the tips of her ears burn. Flustered, she hurried into the elevator, pretending she hadn't heard him. "Come on, come on. I'm starving. Let's go eat."

Julian couldn't help but smile.

He used to think he was incredibly dense when it came to romance. Now, he realized Scarlett was exactly the same. When she first married Yardley, Julian genuinely believed she had found the love of her life and was diving in headfirst. But looking back, her decision to marry Yardley was very similar to his own past entanglement with Sylvia.

Both of them had been pushed into corners by circumstance. Both of them were meticulous, serious people who refused to do things halfway. And ironically, both of them had stumbled into their first marriages with reckless haste, only to watch them end in disaster.

He had planned to use this trip to Country A to make a significant breakthrough with Scarlett.

But the moment they landed, Yardley and Sylvia had appeared, throwing his entire strategy into chaos.

Lost in thought, Julian nearly missed the elevator doors closing. He lunged forward just as Scarlett, noticing the doors shutting, thrust her hand out to hold them open for him.

They both moved at the exact same time, and in the rush, their hands crashed together, fingers locking tightly.
