Julian paused, tilting his head to listen. It sounded like someone was throwing a fit at the front desk, furious that the restaurant had been booked for a private event.
He stood up. "Wait here. I'll go see what's happening."

At the entrance of the restaurant.
Yardley stood in a custom runway-edition Valentino suit, exuding wealth and arrogance. Beside him, Sylvia was draped in a vintage, Audrey Hepburn-inspired black dress, dripping with diamonds.
After the humiliating experience of being shoved into a tiny, cramped room, Yardley felt his pride had taken a massive hit. Tonight, he intended to drop a fortune at this restaurant—widely known as the most exclusive, high-end dining establishment with the best views in all of Country A.
He wanted to use the most direct, aggressive method possible to prove that he was a powerful real estate mogul, not some weakling to be pushed around.
But to his absolute outrage, he had hit another wall. Despite holding a VIP membership card that supposedly guaranteed him a table at any time, the hostess had politely informed him that the entire restaurant was closed for a private event. No other guests were allowed.
Yardley’s face was practically green with fury. This trip had been an absolute nightmare. For a man accustomed to the highest tier of luxury and respect, this was the most insulting experience of his life.
Refusing to back down, he slammed his VIP card onto the reception desk. Speaking in fluent English, he demanded, "So tell me, is this VIP card just a worthless piece of plastic? When your manager issued this to me, I was told it guaranteed top-tier service and priority seating at any time. And now you’re telling me I can’t even get a table?"
The restaurant manager, long accustomed to handling entitled elites, maintained his polished, robotic smile. He offered a slight bow. "Under normal circumstances, sir, this card does indeed grant you all of those privileges."
The manager hesitated, unsure of exactly how much weight Yardley’s threats carried. He cast a nervous glance toward the dining room.
Just then, the sound of steady, confident footsteps echoed from the hallway.
"What exactly are you trying to do, Yardley?"
Julian’s cool, detached voice sliced through the tension. A moment later, he appeared in the entryway.
Compared to the flashy, over-the-top elegance of Yardley and Sylvia, Julian looked almost severely understated. He wore a simple, impeccably tailored black casual suit, without even a watch to accessorize.
