He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 750

Yet, despite his minimalist attire, Julian’s innate grace and quiet authority shone through even brighter. Placed side by side, Yardley’s extravagant outfit suddenly looked loud, desperate, and overly compensating.

Yardley was genuinely shocked to realize that the person who had rented out the entire venue was Julian.

In his mind, Julian had always been low-key, almost frugal. Yet here he was, burning money like water just to impress his ex-wife.

This revolving restaurant was notoriously expensive. Even a standard dinner reservation could easily cost the equivalent of a high-end luxury car. The cost to shut down the entire venue for a private evening was astronomical.

If Yardley hadn't been so utterly suffocated and humiliated by the day’s events, he never would have picked a fight over a dinner reservation. His company's cash flow was tight enough as it was; he had no business wasting money on petty ego trips.

But seeing Julian standing there changed everything. He had been getting systematically crushed by Julian on every front back home. The thought of coming all the way across the world only to be overshadowed by him again was infuriating.

Yardley let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Julian, I don't mean to look down on you, but with your salary, isn't renting out this entire place a bit of a stretch? Trying a bit too hard to flex, aren't we?"

Julian’s eyes darkened slightly. "You don't make much more than I do. In fact, you might even make less. Stop acting like a billionaire."

Yardley’s jaw twitched. Julian’s ability to casually deliver devastating insults had significantly improved. It hit right where it hurt.

Before he could respond, Scarlett stepped out from the dining room, walking up beside him. She smoothly hijacked Yardley’s taunt.

"You're absolutely right," she said brightly. "Julian booking this place is definitely a bit beyond his means. Honestly, it breaks my heart to see him spend so much."

"So here’s an idea, Yardley. If you’re willing to pay double what Julian paid to rent this place, we'll gladly step aside and give you the whole restaurant. What do you say?"

"We've only listened to one piano song and haven't even ordered yet. If you want to take over the tab, the floor is yours."
