"For the past five years, ever since you followed Julian abroad, the Flynn family has been completely peaceful. But the second you return, you cause this massive uproar! Others might be fooled by your innocent act, but I know exactly what you're scheming!"
Sylvia's tears fell in heavy drops, but she was so thoroughly exposed she couldn't utter a single word in her defense.
Corinne instinctively opened her mouth to argue, but Clarissa shot her a piercing glare, silencing her instantly.
Gwen Quinn and her husband, Silas Stetson, were well aware of the scandalous secret from five years ago.
Having Clarissa tear it out into the open right in front of them completely humiliated the couple.
Gwen opened her mouth to defend her daughter, but Silas abruptly shot up from his chair, his face flushed with furious indignation.
"Sylvia, it's time you woke up! If you keep acting like a lunatic, all three of our families are going to suffer the consequences!"
"Once you are discharged, you will personally go to Scarlett and apologize. You will beg for her forgiveness, and from now on, you will keep your distance from Yardley. Stop stirring up these pathetic, shameful scandals and turning the entire city upside down!"
Silas had long been suppressing his rage. After delivering his blistering reprimand, he spun on his heel and stormed out of the hospital room.
Sylvia choked on her sobs, her heart-wrenching wails echoing through the sterile room.
Seeing Sylvia completely falling apart, Gwen irritably pulled out a chair and sat down.
"You're pathetic, all you know how to do is cry. How can you let a nobody like Scarlett walk all over you like this?"
Gwen stared at Sylvia, incredibly frustrated by her daughter's weakness.
Corinne immediately jumped in to defend her. "Scarlett is ruthless. Even I can't handle her, let alone Sylvia. Stop scolding the poor girl!"
Gwen turned her hostility directly toward Corinne.
"Corinne, I have to be honest with you. You have absolutely no authority in the Flynn family anymore, do you? You let an outsider bully you into silence, and even your eldest daughter feels comfortable screaming at you and judging you. If you keep this up, nobody is going to take you seriously!"
Corinne pouted, feeling deeply wronged. "What am I supposed to do? Scarlett is a walking powder keg right now. The slightest thing sets her off, and she won't even listen to Yardley anymore."
