Inside the room, three or four nurses were desperately pinning down Sylvia’s arms and legs, while her attending physician held a syringe, plunging it into her arm.
As the medication entered her system, Sylvia finally stopped thrashing and quickly drifted to sleep.
The doctors and nurses who had just restrained her were all drenched in sweat.
Yardley frowned.
"What's going on? Doctor, what did you just give my sister?"
The doctor let out a tired sigh.
"Mr. Flynn, I just administered a sedative. She was completely delirious, speaking nonsensically, and she even tried to jump out of the window. She was impossible to control."
"We barely managed to drag her away from the ledge. It took all of us using everything we had just to hold her down. If we didn't sedate her, there's no telling what dangerous thing she might try next."
"I strongly advise you to contact a specialized psychiatric facility and have her transferred there as soon as possible. It will be much better for her condition."
Yardley’s expression grew heavy and conflicted.
"A specialized psychiatric facility? You mean...?"
The doctor didn't mince words.
"A psychiatric care center. There's a very good one in the West District of Bay City. Their doctors are highly qualified, and the environment is excellent."
Yardley's face turned grim. At that exact moment, Corinne, completely unable to contain herself, lunged forward.
"You're talking nonsense! My daughter was perfectly fine! There's no way she's crazy!"
"She just suffered a temporary shock! She'll go back to normal in no time! Stop making things up!"
Corinne refused to accept reality. Staring at Sylvia’s lifeless form on the bed, she broke down into agonizing, gut-wrenching sobs.
Yardley sighed.
Lately, she had been ruthlessly tormented by Veronica back at Flynn Manor. Veronica bossed her around and constantly lectured her, leaving her utterly exhausted and overwhelmed.
And now, to her utter disbelief, the son who had always been so obedient was publicly reprimanding her without a shred of dignity, right in front of the doctor. The sheer anger and betrayal hit Corinne so hard her chest seized up.
"Mom, you really need to take a long, hard look in the mirror!"
"You bear an undeniable responsibility for why the Flynn family has ended up like this!"
"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. If you and Dad hadn't set such a horrific example, how could any of us siblings have ended up in such pathetic states?"
"If you don't change, the Flynn family is doomed!"
Having delivered his righteous condemnation, Yardley turned his back with a dark expression and stormed out of the ward.
Corinne stood rooted to the spot, completely and utterly stunned!
