Who did Caldwell just call *Boss*?
Did he mean... Julian?
Was he saying Julian was the shadow owner of Zenith Tower?!
No, that couldn't be right. From her intelligence, Zenith Tower's developer was a man named Mr. Vance. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Crofts.
But right before her eyes, Caldwell was cowering in utter subservience to Julian and Scarlett!
She knew Caldwell. The man had an iron spine and strict principles. Unless he had made a catastrophic error or offended someone with god-tier power, he would never grovel to anyone like this.
Watching the scene unfold, Veronica's brain entirely shut down. Her wild gaze darted between Caldwell and Julian, eyes bulging. Unwilling to accept reality, she screamed, "Caldwell! Who are you calling Boss?!"
"Are you saying Julian is your employer?!" Her voice cracked into a hysterical pitch. "That's impossible! Absolutely impossible! Your developer's last name is Vance, I had dinner with him!"
She fired off question after desperate question.
But she received no explanation. The only response was deafening silence.
Moments later, the guards dragged her forcefully into the elevator.
The doors shut, and as the car plummeted toward the ground floor, she was left without a single answer.
Once she was gone, Scarlett stepped forward, gently telling the panicked supervisor to stand up. "Mr. Caldwell, there's no need to panic like that. We really don't need such formalities."
Caldwell wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with a trembling hand, frantically trying to explain. "I am so sorry, Ms. Langley. This... this is entirely my fault."
"She's the daughter of my former employer. She's been hounding me for weeks about leasing the penthouse for her office. I couldn't brush her off anymore, so I brought her up today just to appease her."
"I had absolutely no idea you two were on site. If I had known, I swear I never would have brought her up here."
"She said such horrific things to you... I... it's a massive failure on my part! If you want to fire me, I completely understand!"
Desperate for answers, Veronica tried to charge back inside.
Instead, the heel of her designer stiletto caught in a crack in the pavement. She pitched forward, crashing spectacularly onto the hard concrete.
She twisted her ankle violently, and a piece of exposed rebar sliced a long, bloody gash down her forearm.
She was livid.
Like a deranged woman, she threw herself at the entrance, screaming and demanding to be let back in so she could confront Julian and Scarlett and find out who they really were.
But the two guards didn't even blink. They stood like brick walls, completely barricading the doors, ignoring her existence.
After screaming obscenities at the building for several minutes and realizing it was useless, she finally gave up.
Seething with a toxic mix of humiliation and venomous resentment, she limped to her car, slammed her foot on the gas, and sped back to Flynn Group.
