He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 988

Yardley couldn't reason with her, and they were in the middle of a heated, red-faced argument over the matter.

Suddenly, Franklin's number flashed on his phone screen.

Yardley felt an instinctive headache coming on. He answered the call.

Before he could even say "Hello," Franklin's furious roar blasted through the speaker.

"Yardley Flynn, what the hell is wrong with your eyes?! Where do you find these women?!"

"You get married and don't even bother to tell me?! Do I even exist to you anymore?!"

"Get your ass back to the office! Right now! Immediately!"

The sudden screaming matched the pounding in Yardley's temples.

In the past, when his father yelled at him, Yardley would swallow his frustration and tolerate it out of filial duty.

But now, remembering the brutal truths Scarlett had laid out for him, a fiery rage ignited in his chest. Reaching his absolute limit, he roared back into the phone.

"What's wrong with my eyes?! I get it from you! Like father, like son!"

"You went out and had three illegitimate kids without breathing a word to any of us! Why should I tell you about my marriage?!"

"I'm coming back to the office, but I'm doing it on my terms! You don't have the right to give me orders anymore!"

The moment the words left his mouth, a massive, suffocating weight lifted off Yardley's chest.

It felt incredible to finally snap back. To stop taking the abuse.

Father or not, he didn't care anymore!

Franklin's vision went black. He swayed dangerously on his feet, nearly collapsing, when a soft pair of hands caught his arm, steadying him.

"Are you alright, Franklin?"

Irene Sommers' gentle voice sounded by his ear. Hearing her, Franklin finally managed to anchor himself.

He let out a heavy, ragged breath and kicked viciously at the ruined coffee table. "That bastard! He's lost his damn mind! How dare he yell at me like that!"

Hearing this, Veronica assumed Yardley was defending her. Thrilled by the thought, she couldn't resist twisting the knife.

"See? I told you, old man. Yardley is on my side!"

She gave Franklin a triumphant smirk. "Just you wait! When he gets here, he's going to back me up!"

Franklin's chest heaved violently. The sheer audacity of this woman nearly sent him into cardiac arrest.
