He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 990

Nathan pointed up at the security camera in the corner of the ceiling, unable to resist adding that detail.

Yardley shot Veronica a look of pure ice. From the guilty, defensive look on her face, he could easily guess exactly what had gone down.

Seeing his father lying motionless and looking dangerously pale, Yardley quickly shoved Irene aside. He reached into the inner pocket of his father's suit jacket, pulling out a small bottle of nitroglycerin pills. He tapped two out and moved to place them under Franklin's tongue.

Seeing the bottle, Irene's face suddenly changed. She grabbed his arm in a panic.

"Yardley, wait... you... you can't just give him those!"

Yardley froze, looking at her in confusion. "Why not? My dad has a heart condition. He takes these all the time."

Irene’s expression turned agonized. She stammered, "But... but he told me those were... for stamina. In the bedroom."

Her face burned crimson the moment the words left her mouth.

Yardley stared at her, unable to believe his own ears. He looked at the secretary, then down at his unconscious father on the sofa, utterly speechless.

Thinking about the sordid, pathetic double life his father had been leading with this woman, a wave of profound nausea washed over him. Disgusted, he hurled the bottle of enhancement pills straight into the trash can.

He glared at Irene, his face rigid with contempt.

"So you're telling me you've been sleeping with my father for all these years, and you didn't even know he had a heart condition?"

"So every time he felt his chest tightening and needed his medication, he lied and told you it was for..."

Yardley couldn't even finish the sentence. The more he thought about it, the more grotesque and absurd it became. It was a sickening joke.

What kind of monumental sins had he committed in a past life to be cursed with such degenerate parents?

A mother who secretly got pregnant with another man's child, kept the bastard daughter close to the family, and expected him to clean up the fallout.

A father who fathered not one, but three illegitimate sons behind his back, feeling zero remorse or shame even in his old age.

Yardley felt like he was suffocating.

In that moment, Yardley's resolve finally cemented into stone.

He refused to be dragged any further down into the toxic sinkhole his family had created. He refused to let them destroy whatever was left of him.

Scarlett was right. He had to tear it all down and rebuild. He had to purge the rot from this family!

If he let things continue like this, the Flynn legacy was going to burn to the ground.

Hearing Yardley's harsh tone toward his father, Veronica's eyes lit up.

She delusionally assumed Yardley was fiercely defending her. Thrilled, she practically threw herself at him, her voice sickeningly sweet.

"Yardley! I knew it! I knew you'd take my side!"

"Exactly! Put him in his place! The Flynn empire belongs to us now! It's time the older generation minded their own business!"
