He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 995

Scarlett was so blinded by fury that her mind went completely blank.

It wasn't until she was about to start the car and Julian slid into the passenger seat that the chaotic storm in her head finally began to settle.

She wasn't that helpless, isolated girl anymore. She didn't have to crash through every obstacle on her own. Looking into Julian's calm, grounding eyes, the burning rage in her chest slowly began to ebb.

Julian gently reached out and took her hand. "I understand exactly how you're feeling," he said softly, "but safety comes first. Let me drive. You take the passenger seat, okay? When we see him, I won't stop you from letting everything out, but right now, I need to know you're safe."

Those few words instantly melted the rigid tension locked in her muscles.

She nodded, taking a deep, shuddering breath. "Okay. You drive. I'm sorry. I'm just so angry. I can't accept that someone like him gets to waltz back into our lives. He doesn't have the right to be anywhere near my mom, my brother, or me."

Julian replied steadily. "I know. And that's why you can handle this however you need to. Let's go see what he wants."

He leaned over, unbuckling her seatbelt himself. They quickly swapped places, and within moments, they were speeding toward La Belle Nuit.

As they walked into the grand lobby of the club, Scarlett immediately spotted him from a distance. The old man was slouched on a plush sofa near the entrance, snapping his fingers and barking orders at the waitstaff for drinks and snacks.

In that instant, a chilling light flashed in her eyes.

From that day on, her world had completely shattered.

It was her mother who had endured unspeakable humiliation, slowly forcing the cracks closed and holding up the sky for the two of them.

And now, here he was, lounging on a sofa, demanding VIP treatment without a single shred of remorse in his eyes.

The sight made her blood boil. The calm Julian had managed to instill in her evaporated, replaced by a violent, blazing inferno.

She stormed toward him, just as a server approached with the custom cocktail he had ordered.
