As Sebastian's strikingly handsome but wildly furious face came into focus, sheer terror spiked in Helena's chest. She could literally see murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
In one terrifying motion, he hauled her completely off the mattress. Despite being pregnant, she hadn't gained much weight, making her frighteningly easy to lift. The sudden jerk sent a sharp cramp straight through her abdomen, and she instinctively wrapped her arms around her stomach to protect The Baby.
"What the hell are you doing, Sebastian?" she choked out, panic flooding her veins.
He gave a dark sneer and shoved her hard against the bedroom wall. Her spine collided with the padded fabric paneling, the soft material acting as a shock absorber. Without it, she was certain her back would have shattered.
"What am I doing? What did I just tell you in the car? I warned you to stay away from her, yet here you are, pushing my absolute limits!" he roared, his voice thick with unhinged rage.
He pinned her flush against the wall, his large hand wrapping securely around her throat. The horrifyingly familiar sensation of suffocating hit her instantly. All color drained from her face. As she clawed desperately for air, she felt a violent flutter in her womb—The Baby reacting to her sheer terror, practically screaming for survival.
"The... the baby..." Helena choked out in a ragged whisper.
The words seemed to snap Sebastian out of his bloodlust, finally remembering her condition. He abruptly released his grip, and she crumbled onto the hardwood floor. For a moment, a suffocating silence swallowed the room.
Sebastian's hands balled into white-knuckled fists, but he made absolutely no move to help her up. Helena stayed on the floor, gasping hungrily for oxygen.
