He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 214

Undeterred, Helena held his gaze without blinking.

"In your dreams," Sebastian sneered, abruptly shoving her away.

She didn't miss a beat. Glancing down, she saw the angry red marks blazing across her delicate wrist where he had gripped her. It stung. But the physical ache was nothing compared to the quiet devastation in her chest. Still, she had gone numb to that pain a long time ago.

"Right," she agreed smoothly, not bothering to argue. Fighting with him was pointless. She turned on her heel and strode toward the hospital lobby.

Sebastian stood rooted to the spot, slipping one hand into his pocket as he watched her walk away. The longer he stared, the more furious he became. For the first time in his life, he felt utterly outplayed by this woman, backed into a corner with zero leverage.

At that exact second, his phone vibrated in his pocket. It rang briefly before dropping—a missed call from Janetta. Sebastian stared at the screen but made no move to dial back. He was pushing her to the edge, and she was doing the same to him. Whoever caved first would lose the game. Expressionless, he slid the phone back into his pocket and followed Helena inside.

Helena was already inside the ultrasound suite. Just as Sebastian was about to follow her in, his phone buzzed again. Janetta's name flashed across the screen. He stared at it, his thumb hovering over the glass. But a second later, he coolly dropped it back into his pocket, ignoring it completely. The phone kept vibrating, meaning Janetta was desperately holding the line. He wanted to see exactly how long she could endure this standoff. With confident, unhurried strides, he walked into the examination room.

Helena was already lying back on the examination bed. Sebastian moved to her side.

"Mr. Hayes," The OB-GYN greeted respectfully. "The baby is perfectly healthy."
