Julian's words were notoriously vicious.
Especially when directed at Sebastian.
Predictably, that single sentence shattered Sebastian's composure.
"And let me remind you—this is Coralia, not Riverton. Don't go looking for trouble here, understand? I'm not known for being reasonable," Julian mocked coldly, holding nothing back.
Sebastian's gaze turned even more murderous.
Helena watched them from inside the car.
The soundproofing was too good; she couldn't hear a word they were saying.
But the explosive tension crackling between them was impossible to miss.
To say she wasn't anxious would be a lie.
She was terrified a brawl was about to break out.
When Julian lost his temper, absolutely no one could rein him in.
That hadn't changed, even now.
Her hand instinctively grabbed the door handle.
Suddenly, she heard a sharp click as the doors locked from the outside.
Julian had locked her in.
He hadn't even looked back, as if he knew exactly what she was about to do.
Sebastian noticed the gesture, his eyes narrowing.
His mind immediately jumped to the IGM partnership.
"So, this Helena is your puppet?" he demanded. "You knew I'd never work with Shengxin Technologies because of Lance James, so you used IGM to trap me?"
"You flatter yourself," Julian sneered.
Sebastian didn't bat an eye.
"Whatever my wife decides to do is her own business. I don't interfere," Julian stated firmly. "So stay the hell away from her, understand?"
He was referring to the current Helena.
Sebastian understood exactly what he meant.
Yet beneath Julian's warnings, he picked up on a subtle, nagging implication.
The cabin was filled with heavy, suffocating silence.
As they merged onto the main road, her phone buzzed in her purse.
A WhatsApp message flashed on the screen.
It was from Sebastian.
The car came to a halt at a red light.
Just as she looked down at the notification, Julian saw it too.
Sebastian: [See you in Seacrest in three days.]
The message was brief and professional, completely devoid of any flirtation.
But sending it right at that exact moment felt like a blatant provocation aimed at Julian.
Julian's eyes hardened.
Before he could say a word, she immediately explained.
"I changed the terms of our partnership earlier, so we both compromised. IGM is just a tool to me, but I need him trapped in this web. For the past three years, all the major contracts have been signed in Riverton," she clarified defensively.
