Julian murmured against her lips, "He'll figure out who you are eventually. Let him watch now—won't it make the reveal that much sweeter later?"
To the onlookers, the display was a scene of intense, suffocating passion.
It looked like they were unapologetically flaunting their devotion.
Knowing the hostility burning inside him, she didn't object.
She simply melted into his embrace and kissed him back.
He knew exactly why she was going along with it.
He kissed her with devastating thoroughness.
Utterly indifferent to the gasps and stares of the crowd.
The ballroom lights were already beginning to brighten.
Everyone had noticed the scandalous display of affection.
Only when she was entirely out of breath did she press her hands weakly against his chest.
He finally pulled back.
Donovan Campbell witnessed the whole thing, his face completely devoid of emotion.
Someone teased, "Old Mr. Campbell, with how in love the young couple is, you must already have a great-grandchild on the way, right?"
That was the worst possible thing they could have said.
At the mention of a great-grandchild, Donovan's expression darkened dangerously.
Outwardly, though, he maintained enough decorum not to humiliate Julian and Helena.
"I can't control what the youth do," he replied sharply.
It was a clear warning to drop the subject immediately.
The guests wisely backed off.
Having released her lips, Julian rested his jaw intimately against her hair.
They were both breathing slightly heavy.
Her hands lingered on his waist.
Her chest heaved, struggling to catch her breath.
"Wait here for a second. I'm going to tell Grandfather we're leaving," he murmured decisively.
"Okay," she agreed.
Reluctantly letting her go, he strode over to Donovan.
Donovan glared at him and scoffed coldly.
