The underlying threat was clear.
Janetta wasn't stupid.
A surge of fear hit her.
Under these circumstances, she played the victim once more.
"I'm sorry..." she apologized, lowering her head.
Her slender fingers gripped his sleeve. "I just love you so much, which is why I'm so tense. I'm terrified you'll leave me. I've been so anxious all these years. I know I shouldn't act like this. I'm sorry..."
Her voice dropped to a pitiful whisper.
Her previous aggression vanished without a trace.
"Please, for Kyle's sake, don't be mad at me, okay?" She brought up their son as a shield.
She knew he still cared about Kyle.
To be precise, the entire Hayes family adored Kyle.
Unsurprisingly, the mention of the boy immediately softened Sebastian's expression.
He looked down at her.
Janetta maintained her fragile, pitiful gaze. "Sebastian..."
"What time is your audition tomorrow?" he suddenly asked.
The question caught her off guard.
She froze, then her eyes lit up with wild surprise. "Are you willing to come with me?"
He didn't answer.
Not daring to push her luck, she quickly replied, "It's at 2:00 PM."
He hummed softly in acknowledgment.
She cautiously tested the waters. "Are you coming with me?"
"I need to head back to Riverton, but I'll make a call. Whether you get it or not still depends on you," he said smoothly.
Joy danced in her eyes.
This was the first time in years he had offered to help her like this.
She felt absolutely confident she had the role in the bag.
But to be safe, she made sure to clarify her request.
"I want the lead role in Destiny's Choice, Victoria Vance," she said carefully.
He didn't reply.
