He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 176

Nyssa was an incredibly driven woman. Once she set a goal, she achieved it.

Having kept vigil at the hospital for days, she was naturally unwilling to walk away defeated.

The next morning, she returned to the hospital with a fresh bouquet of flowers.

To ensure Marcella could recover in absolute peace, the Fordhams had booked the entire floor of the VIP wing.

Extravagant floral arrangements lined both sides of the corridor, trailing all the way from the patient suite down to the elevators.

The attached cards all expressed wishes for Mrs. Fordham's speedy recovery.

The signatures belonged to the heiresses of major banks, the beloved daughters of financial tycoons, and the only children of powerful political figures.

Glancing down the hall, the sheer number of elite socialites vying for favor was staggering.

There was only one reason for this: two of the Fordham sons were still unmarried.

The most coveted prize was Yorath. What family with a daughter wouldn't want a son-in-law like him?

He was still young; in another decade or two, it was entirely possible he'd reach the absolute pinnacle of centralized power.

When Nyssa reached the doorway, she spotted several elegantly dressed, beautiful young women inside the suite, escorted by their mothers to visit Marcella.

Nyssa's own father ran a highly successful law firm.

In any industry, the highest echelons were divided into exclusive factions.

Her father was considered a titan in his field.

He had helped countless elites handle their messy, high-stakes legal affairs.

As a result, she knew quite a few people in these circles.

Nyssa recognized two of the heiresses currently in the room.

These girls, as pretty as the flowers they brought, were practically curated specimens displayed in pots, just waiting for Yorath to make his pick.

And he probably wouldn't even spare them a second glance.

When a man reached a certain level of status, even if he didn't want the attention, countless beauties would throw themselves at him.

Nyssa lowered her hand from the door. She stood there for several minutes, completely lacking the courage to knock and walk inside.

If she went in, she'd have to introduce herself to these aristocratic heiresses as a mere actress.

Jevon had headed straight there the moment he returned to the city.

Ottilie had been dragged along with him.

As he stepped out of the car, Jevon huffed, "Why are you still sitting there? Get out and go show some face."

"I'll pass," Ottilie replied dryly. "I don't want to aggravate Mrs. Fordham and make her condition worse."

Jevon pondered that for a second. "The only thing you're good for is pleasing Yorath in bed. Otherwise, I wouldn't even hire you as a security guard—you never smile."

Ottilie turned away, staring out the window and ignoring him completely.

Jevon and Elian got out of the car, walking side by side.

Naturally, their conversation stayed focused on Ottilie.

"With her rotten attitude, what on earth does Yorath see in her?"

Elian shrugged. "How should I know... Oh, Nyssa, what are you doing here?"

Jevon glanced up to see Nyssa walking out of the inpatient building.
