He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 227

Seeing their precious son bleeding, they instantly exploded with rage, abandoning their theatrical wailing on the ground.

James jumped up, yanked off his belt, and began viciously whipping Ottilie.

"You ungrateful wretch! I raised you for nothing! You team up with an outsider to beat your brother! I'll kill you before I let you marry this trash!"

She threw her arms up to block the blows.

The stiff, synthetic leather belt struck hard; a single hit made her entire arm go numb with pain.

Then came the relentless, brutal lashes.

Yves pulled her behind him, using his body as a shield. "Mr. Sewell, let's talk this out! Whatever your conditions are, we can negotiate. Violence isn't the answer!"

James despised the punk who was stealing his daughter and wanted to beat him anyway.

Taking the opportunity, he whipped Yves mercilessly.

As Ottilie tried to pull him away, she caught several more lashes herself.

Finally, the City Hall staff rushed out, forcefully breaking up the scuffle.

James immediately began crying and causing a scene, loudly lamenting the hardships of raising a daughter.

He went on about the diapers he changed and the tuition he paid, crying about how it all resulted in a rebellious twenty-six-year-old.

The narrative quickly shifted. Ottilie became the ungrateful daughter.

Yves was painted as the predatory "punk" who kidnapped someone's child.

A crowd of older women surrounded Ottilie, lecturing her. "Girl, you can't marry a punk. Listen to your parents, they won't steer you wrong."

Another group swarmed Yves. "A man your age tricking a young girl..."

Across the street, an inconspicuous Porsche Cayenne sat parked by the curb.

Yorath watched the farce unfold from the driver's seat.

Ottilie was so swamped by the crowd that only the top of her dark hair was visible.

Stumbling from the missed kick, James spun around to curse. "Mind your own fucking business! The law can't stop me from beating my own daughter—"

He choked on his words the moment he saw Yorath.

Having suffered under Yorath's ruthless methods before, James knew better than to cross him.

"Mr. Fordham, perfect timing! You tell me, this punk tricked my daughter into marriage. Isn't that illegal? Shouldn't he go to jail?"

Yorath glanced at Ottilie, pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, and smiled.

He exuded an effortless, terrifyingly refined elegance.

"While this is a family matter, assault is still a crime. Especially since this gentleman here seems injured, perhaps we should get him to the hospital first, then find a place to sit down and discuss the marriage."

Hearing 'hospital' and immediately thinking of the bill, James yelled, "No hospital! Let's just talk about the marriage now."

Yorath turned to Ottilie. "What does Ms. Sewell say?"
