Ottilie opened her eyes, studying his faint profile in the dim light of the car.
"Whatever I want, I'll get myself. I won't bother you for it."
What others give can always be taken back, leaving her with absolutely nothing.
What she earned through her own effort and held securely in her own hands was truly hers.
The car drove steadily until they arrived back at the Meridian Villa.
The blasting A/C had made her feel marginally better.
She turned to him. "If you absolutely must give me something, then terminate our contract."
Yorath's fingers tapped a slow rhythm on the steering wheel, a terrifying, dark jealousy surging in his eyes.
"You like your Mr. Walden that much? You're willing to let him pay your penalty fee, but you turn down everything I offer?"
"Mr. Walden is a good man."
"He's a good man, so I'm the bad guy?"
She pressed her lips tight, remaining silent.
More often than not, silence was an admission.
Yorath laughed out of sheer fury, turning to look at her fully. "The world isn't black and white, Tilly. You haven't seen the whole picture. You think leaving me means you can just fly off into the sunset with him?"
"Go ahead and try. See if you can establish a foothold in the entertainment industry without me. See exactly what you have to protect that beautiful body of yours."
He stepped out, yanked open the back door, and pulled her out of the car.
"I gave you a chance to kill me, and you refused. As long as I'm alive, you belong to me."
He pinned her against the vehicle, tilted her chin up, and kissed her with punishing intensity.
She instinctively bit him again, tasting copper before finally letting go.
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with his thumb, glancing at it.
Staring into her eyes, he smiled without a trace of warmth. "Perfect. You're biting now? Are you part dog? I'll let it slide."
He grabbed her wrist and dragged her toward the house.
Walking into the living room, she saw that it wasn't just Jevon and Elian; Nyssa Tarrant was there too.
Seeing him return, Nyssa stood up immediately. "Yorath, you're back. I heard about Mr. Quentin, so I came to see if I could help."
He gave her a dismissive nod. "Let me go see my father first."
He headed straight for the backyard.
Only then did Nyssa turn her attention to Ottilie. "Ms. Sewell, you're back. Mr. Quentin was detained. I heard he was reported, and the IP address traced back to the Meridian Villa. Did you know?"
Ottilie didn't know.
She froze in shock.
She had just laid her cards on the table with Yorath, and Quentin got reported right after?
She instinctively glanced toward the backyard.
Mistaking her shock for guilt, Nyssa smiled knowingly. "Admitting a mistake is the first step. Yorath cares about you; he won't do anything to you. Don't worry too much."
