He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 235

Nyssa turned her head toward the room. "See, Yorath? Even Ms. Sewell thinks it's beautiful. You have amazing taste."

She then shifted her gaze to the man standing next to Ottilie. "And what brings Mr. Walden here?"

Her announcement drew the three men in the study toward the doorway.

They all stood there, sizing Yves up.

Yves remained entirely composed and impeccably polite. "Mr. Fordham. I'm here to discuss the terms of Ms. Sewell's contract."

Yorath nodded. He glanced at Jevon. "Give us the room."

As Jevon walked out, he paused by Ottilie's ear and sneered, "You've got nerve, parading the guy you're cheating on him with right to his door. Do you have a death wish?"

Ottilie ignored him completely.

Jevon led the others away.

Yorath stepped back and gestured for them to enter.

Ottilie walked in with Yves at her side.

They took their seats on the sofa.

The coffee table still held the remains of an unfinished tea service.

Ottilie and Yves sat close together.

Yorath sat opposite them. He casually picked up the teapot, poured a cup, and slid it toward Yves.

It was painfully obvious the cup had just been used by one of the previous occupants.

Yves took it, but merely set it down on the table.

"Does Mr. Walden find the cups my friends use distasteful?" Yorath asked dryly.

"Not at all. I'm just not thirsty," Yves replied steadily. "You mentioned previously that there's a penalty fee to terminate Ottilie's contract. I've brought the deeds to my properties, my mutual funds, stocks, and records of all my assets."

He opened his briefcase, taking out two property deeds.

Then came the statements for his salary account, housing fund, pension...

Everything was neatly printed and categorized.

Let alone twenty billion, even twenty million was a staggering, impossible figure to him.

It felt like a physical slap to the face. His cheeks burned hot with humiliation.

The crushing reality of their class divide made him feel entirely inadequate for the first time in his life.

Pride and dignity meant absolutely nothing in the face of absolute power.

Ottilie reached over, gripping Yves's hand tightly.

Yorath's eyelid twitched. The veins on the hand holding his cup bulged against his skin.

"You said two years," Ottilie interjected firmly. "I will sign a high-stakes gambling agreement with you. I will generate twenty billion in revenue for the company within two years. If I fail, my life is yours to do with as you please. If I succeed, you let us go."

Twenty billion was just as much of an astronomical sum to her!

But she couldn't sit by and let Yorath humiliate Yves like this.

She would gamble her own life before she let Yves fight her battles alone.
