"Ottilie and I are married," Yorath said flatly.
"What?" Nyssa stared at Ottilie.
This woman hadn't made a single sound since Nyssa walked into the room.
She stabbed Yorath, and they were still getting married?!
For the first time in her life, Nyssa couldn't tell reality from a nightmare.
The room spun violently around her. Dizzy and disoriented, she stumbled forward, pitching headfirst toward Yorath's hospital bed.
Ottilie discreetly stuck out her foot and tripped her.
Nyssa's body, originally falling toward the mattress, veered off course. She plummeted straight down, her head smashing hard against the stainless-steel bedframe.
A loud *thud* echoed in the room.
Nyssa cried out in pain.
On instinct, her hands flailed, trying to grab the railing at the foot of the bed.
Ottilie reached out and caught her hand. "Careful, Ms. Tarrant."
Failing to grab the railing, Nyssa went down face-first, collapsing heavily onto the floor.
Another agonizing shriek tore from her throat.
Ottilie clearly heard the muffled, hollow *thump* of her skull bouncing off the linoleum tiles.
Nyssa lay sprawled on the ground, so consumed by pain she couldn't even manage to scream anymore.
It took a long time before she could push herself up into a sitting position and look up at Ottilie.
A massive, angry purple lump had already formed on her forehead, contorting her beautiful features into something hideous.
Ottilie extended a hand to help her. "Ms. Tarrant, are you alright?"
There was no way Nyssa was letting her touch her. She shrieked at Kendrick, who was standing awkwardly to the side, "Kendrick, hurry up and help me!"
In the past, she never would have had to ask.
If a manager needed to be told to handle trivial matters like this, they would have been fired long ago.
But today, Kendrick was acting out of character, completely paralyzed by the shocking news of Ottilie and Yorath's marriage.
Nyssa's scream finally snapped him out of his daze.
He rushed over and bent down to help her up.
Knowing better than to push, Nyssa forced a smile at Ottilie. "Ms. Sewell, congratulations on getting everything you ever wanted."
"Thank you," Ottilie smiled back.
It was as if Nyssa had been physically stabbed. Her body gave a slight tremble, her fake smile nearly shattering.
"When is the ceremony? I will absolutely prepare a massive wedding gift for you, Ms. Sewell."
"Then I'll start looking forward to it, Ms. Tarrant."
Nyssa spun on her heel and walked out, abandoning even the pretense of a polite goodbye.
The moment she turned around, her beautiful face warped with pure, unadulterated jealousy, twisting into a grotesque mask of hatred.
Jevon Crawford pushed the door open right at that second and was greeted by the sight.
The former darling of the entertainment industry looked like a literal witch.
In a split second, Nyssa wiped the malice from her face, replacing it with a fragile, weak smile. "Jevon, you're here."
Standing in the doorway, Jevon frowned. "What happened to you?"
"I just accidentally tripped," Nyssa said softly. "I might need to get this wound on my head checked out. Will you come with me?"
