Yorath Fordham didn't even look back as he let Jevon Crawford wheel him away.
Soren glanced over his shoulder, giving the older couple a stiff nod. "Mrs. Sewell, Mr. Sewell, you know our boss's temper. He's utterly ruthless and doesn't do favors for anyone. But I've been on the receiving end of Ms. Sewell's kindness a few times, so I'm willing to put in a good word for you with him—if you're willing to cooperate."
James and Marie nodded frantically in unison. "We'll do anything."
"Mr. Fordham and Ms. Sewell will be at City Hall tomorrow morning at nine-thirty to get their marriage license," Soren stated. "You are invited to attend. It will take up your entire morning. Do not be late. You must wear formal attire, which we will provide. You are to keep a smile on your faces the entire time and offer genuine blessings. If even a single one of your expressions displeases Yorath, whether or not Shawn gets to keep his precious jewels will be entirely up to fate."
The Sewells immediately bowed to Soren. "Thank you for your help! We promise to behave perfectly and make sure Mr. Fordham is satisfied."
Soren produced three contracts. "This is a secret marriage, which means this is a non-disclosure agreement. If a single detail of their wedding leaks from either of you, you will be liable to pay us..."
As soon as the Sewells saw the staggering number of zeros on the page, they immediately wanted to refuse.
But Shawn let out another agonizing scream from inside the room.
Trembling, they signed the NDAs.
Soren walked into the private room and forced Shawn to sign one as well.
Shawn resisted, cursing vehemently.
"Yorath Fordham, you despicable bastard! Setting me up like this, you're going to rot in hell..."
They finally left the exclusive VIP lounge.
Yorath headed straight back to Creekwood Manor.
The representatives of the Fordham family were all present.
Marcella, Lorenzo, and Lyle were sitting in the living room, sipping tea and discussing corporate matters.
Tanya was busying herself pouring the tea.
The moment Yorath entered, the calm atmosphere shattered.
It wasn't until his parents looked at him that he finally offered them a smile.
"Ottilie and I are going to City Hall tomorrow at nine-thirty to get our marriage license. I expect you both to be there on time."
Marcella bristled. "Are you using this to threaten us?"
"I wouldn't dare," Yorath replied smoothly. "I'm your son. It wouldn't be fair to me if you skipped my wedding just because you're angry about Quentin."
"You want to talk to me about fairness?" Lorenzo scoffed. "From the day you were born, this family poured every resource into you. Whatever you wanted, we gave it to you. When you were in school, I dropped you off and picked you up myself. How have I ever wronged you, for you to torture me like this now?"
"I know I can never fully repay you for raising me," Yorath said calmly. "But I want to be a filial son. That's why I'm inviting you to my wedding. If I didn't, I'd be a monster."
"Bail your brother out, and I'll attend," Marcella negotiated.
"This is a society governed by law," Yorath replied. "I don't make the final call."
"I know you have your ways," Marcella insisted.
