He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 269

Kendrick was just an employee, completely beneath someone like him.

Heath shoved Kendrick aside and wheeled himself into the room.

Nyssa slumped against the pillows, offering Heath a weak, practiced smile. "What brings you here, Mr. Heath?"

Heath rolled up to her bedside, taking his time to appraise her fragile, sickly appearance.

Once he was satisfied, he let out a cruel laugh. "Looks like you're barely surviving under Yorath's wing these days."

"I'm doing just fine," Nyssa countered coolly. "I don't know where you're hearing these rumors."

"Your great protector, Yorath, just married Ottilie. Your most devoted simp is out of the picture. What leverage do you have left to keep your footing in Yorath's world?"

"That's none of your business." Nyssa looked away, refusing to engage further.

Heath chuckled darkly. Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed Nyssa's bare foot, which was sticking out from under the covers.

Nyssa jumped in shock, but she didn't pull her foot away.

Heath traced the soft skin of her foot, inch by inch, his gaze calculating.

"You lived with Ottilie for a few years, didn't you?"

"Why are you asking about that?"

"What do her feet look like? Have you seen her body?"

Nyssa immediately snatched her foot back and sat up straight. "Aside from her pretty face, everything else about her is hideous."

Heath rested his chin on his hand, clicking his tongue as if savoring a filthy daydream.

"Women."

"What about women?" Nyssa snapped. "What kind of pure saint do you think your precious Ottilie is? She's a bigger slut in Yorath's bed than anyone else. How else do you think she keeps him wrapped around her finger?"

Heath nodded slowly. "You finally said something truthful. Men love sluts. I know I do. Are you a slut in bed? If you can match Ottilie, I might just pull you out of this mess."

Nyssa's eyes narrowed. Her gaze slowly trailed down from his face to his paralyzed legs.

Heath knew exactly what she was implying.

Heath smiled in amusement, though inwardly he was sneering.

Top star? Please. She was nothing but a cheap whore willing to trade her body for leverage.

"I never make promises I can't keep. When you go see Yorath later, bring up the termination. Leave the rest of the details to me."

With that, he pulled a fresh red rose from his jacket pocket. "Take this to Ms. Sewell for me. But don't tell her it's from me."

Nyssa took it without hesitation. "Sure."

"And while you're at it, find out how she's doing." Heath turned his wheelchair and rolled out of the room.

The moment Kendrick closed the door behind him, Nyssa threw the rose to the floor and stomped on it, crushing the petals into the linoleum.

She remembered the day she signed her contract with Yorath.

He had casually mentioned that Ottilie's previous contract had a twenty-million-dollar penalty, asking if Nyssa was comfortable with the same terms. If not, they could negotiate.

As if she could have ever said no to him back then.
