Ottilie nodded. "Mr. Fordham is drunk and resting next door. Please wait a moment, I'll have someone go get him."

She instructed Yvonne, "Go check if he's awake. If he isn't, wake him up. We can't delay the officers' investigation."

Yvonne nodded. "Right away."

A moment later, she returned. "Ms. Sewell, he's too intoxicated. I can't wake him."

Ottilie said, "Then throw water on him and get him some black coffee. We can't keep Officer Vance waiting."

"Understood."

Yvonne turned to leave.

"Hold on," Hayden Hadley said, stepping out from the crowd.

"I have a foolproof way to sober someone up instantly. Yvonne, just take me there. I guarantee I'll have Mr. Fordham awake and lucid so we don't hold up the police."

Yvonne replied politely, "I wouldn't want to trouble a guest. I've already ordered the coffee. I'll go try again; I'm sure he'll wake up."

Shawn Sewell had been playing the invisible man all night, but he finally stepped forward. "Hayden has a solution. If we don't let him help and wait for the maids to make coffee, how long is that going to take? I say we all go check on him. There's strength in numbers. Maybe we can wake him up together."

He swaggered over to Ottilie. "Little sister, if it's inappropriate for others to help, I'm his brother-in-law. There's nothing inappropriate about family stepping in."
