He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 305

“I didn't notice.” Ottilie's throat felt like it was lined with razor blades, making speaking incredibly painful.

Her mouth was completely parched, and her head felt as though it was sloshing with water; every slight movement sent her brain spinning.

Yorath scooped her into his arms. “I'm taking you to the hospital.”

As he hurried downstairs, he shouted to Yvonne, “Pack my wife's things and bring them to the hospital! Box up the soup and bring that too!”

Yvonne and two quick-handed maids immediately sprang into action, getting everything sorted in a matter of minutes.

Yorath rushed Ottilie to the hospital, where she immediately underwent a series of examinations.

“The preliminary diagnosis is the flu,” Elian said. “It's not a major issue. A few days of treatment and she'll be fine.”

The steely tension on Yorath's face finally relaxed a fraction. He sat by the bed, watching Ottilie. He wanted to touch her forehead but remembered he hadn't washed his hands yet.

He stood up, went to the bathroom to scrub his hands, came back, and gently felt her forehead.

Then he slipped his hand under the covers again.

After the fever-reducing medication, her temperature had finally dropped.

“Don't go home tonight,” Yorath told Elian. “Stay in the suite. If anything goes wrong, you'll be right here.”

Elian agreed and went to pull out the sofa chair, preparing to spend the night in the room.

Jevon had been out of town for the past few days. The moment he landed and heard Ottilie was sick, he drove straight from the airport to the hospital.

He, too, stayed behind in the room.

When Ottilie finally woke up, it was already ten o'clock the next morning.

It was perfectly quiet, with only the occasional sound of pages turning.

She opened her eyes to see Yorath sitting at the desk by the window, reviewing documents.

Sensing her gaze, Yorath turned and smiled. “You're awake. How do you feel?”

“Alright.” Ottilie pushed herself up into a sitting position. “I'm a little hungry.”

Jevon happened to step out to heat up the soup they brought last night and brought it right in.

“The soup is ready. You can eat now.”

Yorath took the bowl, intending to feed her.
