It made her feel even more irritable.
Yorath laid her back down on the bed and carefully pulled the covers over her.
"Go to sleep. I'll stay right here. But you have to wake up. Otherwise, the moment you close your eyes for good, you'll go straight into our family's cemetery. You are, after all, a daughter-in-law recognized by our entire family's legacy."
Ottilie closed her eyes and immediately drifted off. As for whatever Yorath had just said?
She hadn't absorbed a single word.
Even in her sleep, she continued to sweat profusely.
Yorath took a dry towel and gently wiped her forehead.
Worried that her back would get completely soaked and changing her clothes later would wake her, he carefully slipped a dry towel underneath her back. When it got damp, he could simply pull it out and replace it.
He swapped it out every hour, handling the repetitive task with painstaking care, smoothing out every corner of the fabric.
He made absolutely sure nothing disturbed her rest.
At seven o'clock that evening.
Yvonne arrived.
Yorath stepped out of the hospital room. "Do you have anything?"
"After Ms. Tarrant left the hospital today, she went straight home and hasn't stepped foot outside since. However, several people left her residence, and one of them was the doctor. We had people tailing him. I just got word that he left the villa and headed to an exclusive VIP lounge. He took a liking to one of the girls there, and they've been going at it heavily."
Yorath nodded. He summoned Jevon over. "Stay here. Do not let anyone get near Ottilie. I need to step out for a while."
Jevon gave him a firm promise. "Leave her to me. You don't have to worry."
Yorath left the hospital with Yvonne and headed straight for the VIP lounge.
Midnight.
A middle-aged man in a brand-new, tailored suit stumbled out of the den of vice.
He was humming an old Broadway show tune, wildly off-key.
He was completely wasted, stumbling over his own feet and holding his hand up in a dramatic, flamboyant gesture.
Standing by the curb, he pulled out his phone, squinted at the license plate of a rideshare car, yanked the back door open, and climbed in.
