He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 317

She was on the verge of losing her mind.

Such a flawless chess move, completely dismantled just like that.

She had already irrevocably burned her bridges with Yorath. If the contract termination failed, she'd be stuck under his thumb. If Yorath wanted to quietly drive her to her death, it would be as easy as breathing for him.

Who said there was no such thing as the perfect crime in this world?!

He could force her to drink with corporate executives, sleep with them, engage in twisted power games until she broke.

A couple of years ago, an A-list actress fell from the eighteenth floor. She was found covered in bruises, with twisted toys scattered on the floor.

It was officially ruled a suicide because security footage showed she was completely alone in the hotel room.

But anyone in the know understood she had been tortured to death for someone's sick entertainment.

If Yorath wanted her dead, there were ten thousand perfectly legal, sanitized ways to make it happen.

The more Nyssa thought about it, the more terrified she became.

Suddenly feeling the room's AC was freezing, she shivered violently.

She hastily threw on her clothes.

"We're going to Mr. Hadley Sr.'s place. Hurry! We have to finalize the contract process before the sun comes up. Otherwise, there's no escaping him."

"Mr. Hadley Sr. is home with his wife right now," Kendrick warned. "Showing up at this hour might just..."

"Who cares?! Is my life more important, or the risk of getting slapped?"

Bundled up tightly to hide her identity, Nyssa rushed out of the hotel.

When they reached the gates of the Aethelburg Manor, she rolled down the window.

"I need to see Mr. Hadley Sr., please let us through."

"Apologies, no entry without an appointment," the guard replied. "We don't dare call the residences this late at night either. If it's an emergency, you'll have to call him yourself."

Nyssa dialed several numbers, but none of them connected.

Kendrick grabbed two packs of premium cigarettes and handed them to the guard. "You guys work hard on the night shift. Have a smoke on us. Can you do us a solid and help out?"

The guard still refused to make the call himself, but he did hand over the direct landline number for the Hadley Residence.

Nyssa dialed it immediately.
