He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 319

Mrs. Hadley gave a slight nod, permitting it.

Hayden led Nyssa into his study. Without even offering her a seat, he cut straight to the chase. "Spit it out. What do you want?"

Nyssa said, "I need to see your father."

"You're quite the comedian, Ms. Tarrant. You barge into my home in the middle of the night while my mother is here, and you think my father is going to see you?"

Nyssa quickly understood. Hayden was stepping in as his father's proxy.

She dropped the act and stated her demands plainly.

"Yorath has likely captured Dr. Roland by now. Before dawn, he'll definitely have forced the antidote formula out of him. Once he does, all he has to do is withdraw the termination agreement, and I'll be trapped in my contract forever. I have to finalize the legal process tonight. Other than your father, I can't think of anyone else with the power to pull those strings so quickly."

Hayden studied Nyssa with an amused, calculating gaze.

"Asking for a favor comes with a price. What can you give me?"

Nyssa understood instantly. She walked over to Hayden and dropped to her knees.

"I'll make sure you're satisfied."

Hayden pulled out his phone and made a few quick calls.

His voice was calm and completely casual, betraying absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.

After fifteen minutes of phone calls, the job was done.

But Nyssa's job wasn't.

He shoved her away abruptly, zipped up his pants, and walked out.

He didn't even say goodbye.

Because she wasn't *her*, it ultimately felt hollow.

If it had been Ottilie... he would have surrendered from the very start.

Meanwhile, at the hospital.

After receiving the new medicine, Ottilie's fever finally broke, and the endless cold sweats stopped.

For the past few days, she had been trapped in a deep sleep, but it was a restless, agonizing one.

She had constantly moaned in pain, her brow tightly furrowed.

Her body had even twitched uncontrollably at times.

Now, she was sleeping peacefully, a healthy rosiness returning to her lips.
