He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 342

Yorath gently set Ottilie down on the bed.

He reached for her wrist. "Let me see. Did it burn you?"

Rolling up her sleeve, he noticed a slight redness on her skin.

Because of her luminous skin, even the faintest mark stood out starkly.

He traced the spot lightly with his fingertips. "Does it hurt?"

"No."

She had endured much worse pain than this.

Besides, it really didn't hurt at all.

He lowered his head and blew softly on the reddened skin. "Burns need to be run under cold water. Are you sure you don't need it?"

"I'm fine." She pulled her hand back and rolled up the stained sleeve.

"Then you need to change. I'll help you."

He went to the closet and pulled out a set of black lace lingerie. "This doesn't have sleeves. It's very comfortable."

"It's the middle of the day. I just woke up, I don't want to go back to sleep."

She stood up, grabbed the lingerie, tossed it back into the closet, and picked out an outfit for going out.

"Going somewhere?" He casually loosened his tie.

"Yeah, I'm going with Yvonne to the hospital. You were up all night taking care of Marcella, so get some rest."

With that, she slipped into the bathroom and locked the door behind her.

The click of the lock echoed in his ears, a clear sign she was guarding against him like he was a predator.

When she stepped out, dressed, she saw him still standing in the room, staring in her direction, lost in thought.

"Aren't you going to rest?"

"In a minute. Be careful out there. Things have been messy lately, so don't go out alone."

"I know."

She headed downstairs, where Yvonne was already waiting.

As the two women walked out, Jevon called after them, "Don't talk to strangers, and don't pick fights with shady people. Remember, you're an actress, a public figure!"

She ignored him entirely and followed Yvonne out the door.

He muttered under his breath, "What a temper. If she were my wife, we'd be fighting every single day."
