He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 349

"That's your problem. What does it have to do with me?" Kendrick snapped coldly.

"You promised me three million in compensation, lifetime coverage for my medical bills, and reconstructive surgery!" Fabian shot back. "And what did I get? A few thousand a month that barely covers groceries, and just enough medical help to keep me from dying in the hospital. Now you've even cut off that pathetic allowance. I have no way out. My only option left is going to Mr. Fordham and begging him for scraps."

Kendrick slammed his hand onto the table. "Don't you dare."

"You filed fake extortion charges to send me to prison! My life is ruined anyway, what do I have to lose?"

Fabian stood up abruptly, making a move to leave.

Kendrick quickly shoved him back into the booth. "Don't do anything stupid. Let's talk this out. Fine. I'll drop the charges. I won't sue."

He unclasped the Rolex from his wrist and shoved it across the table. "Take this. Pawn it. Keep whatever you get for it. Look, I don't have much cash on me either. I'm doing the best I can for you."

Without a word of thanks, Fabian snatched the watch, got up, and walked out.

Watching the feed on his laptop, Jevon let out an irritated snort.

They had sent Fabian to bait Kendrick into confessing to framing Ottilie.

Instead, the guy had vaguely mentioned a couple of things without securing any hard details.

And he had even managed to score a payoff on the side.

Trying to play both sides for profit? Not on his watch.

But honestly, they had expected exactly this.

Human nature was predictable; people never truly gave up until they were backed completely into a corner.

Unless all their other options were destroyed, they would never give their total loyalty.

Chuckling darkly, Jevon picked up his phone and made a call.

Fabian took the Rolex straight to a high-end pawn shop.

He walked in and handed it to the clerk for appraisal.

"This is a very recent model," the clerk noted. "If you have the original receipt, we can give you eighty thousand for it."

"I don't have the receipt."
