Chapter 128

Lana could hear the shock in Ms. Reed’s voice. She smiled, her tone lifting a little. “Ms. Reed, in the world of geniuses, logic doesn’t always apply.

“According to Lyra, she just sat quietly inside the Ghost Wall for a few minutes, felt something awaken in her energy center. and then drew it into her palm.”

Ms. Reed’s breath quickened. “So those thirty-seven pages… they’re real?”

“They’re real! Lyra’s putting together her notes and will send them over. Ms. Reed, we can finally kick off nationwide cultivation, Lana said.

“Good, good, that’s wonderful!” Ms. Reed exclaimed.

After hanging up, Lana dialed Garrett.

“Garrett,” she said.

“Chief Advisor!” Garrett replied.

“How’s that twenty-person test group I had you pick out?” Lana asked.

Garrett shuffled some papers on his end. “They’ve been practicing since noon. Six of them said their palms got a little

warm.”

“But…” Garrett paused, then changed tack. “Out of those six, three think maybe it was all in their heads, and the other three said the warmth came and went in a flash, same as Lyra’s experience earlier today.”

“And the other fourteen?” Lana asked.

“Nothing at all, Garrett replied.

Garrett sounded a bit helpless. “One guy practiced for two hours, then got up and said his legs had gone numb. He asked if he could do it standing up next time.”

Lana brushed past his complaint. “Let’s put the group experiment on hold for now.”

Garrett was taken aback. “On hold? What’s wrong, Chief Advisor? Did something happen?”

“It’s not that something’s wrong,” Lana replied.

She leaned back in her chair, twirling her pen between her fingers.

“Lyra’s cultivation worked,” Lana said.

There was a brief silence on the other end of the line.

“What?” Garrett blurted out.

“Lyra managed to gather the Vital Flame and actually made fire appear in her palm. She pulled it off in only a few minutes,” Lana said.

Another couple seconds of silence, then Garrett’s voice rose sharply. “A few minutes?”

“That’s right, Lana replied.

“Chief Advisor, are you sure?” Garrett asked.

“She told me herself, Lana replied.

There was a scraping sound of a chair being pushed back on the other end.

“I knew it” Garrett’s voice boomed. “Lyra’s got real talent! Everyone else spends two hours and their legs go numb, but she gets the flame going in just a few minutes. Chief Advisor, this proves the handwritten technique really works.”

“Yeah, Lana replied.

“The path is right! The method is right! We’re just a bunch of slowpokes.” Garrett exclaimed.

Lana grinned at his excitement. “It’s not all about being slow, you know. Talent really does make a difference”

“When Lyra gets back. I’m buying her a huge dinner.” Garrett said.

“Just a meal won’t cut it, Garrett, Lana teased.

Garrett burst out laughing through the phone. “Then I’ll treat her to a feast!”

Lana shook her head, still smiling, but her tone turned serious. “Alright, let’s get down to business.”

Garrett immediately quieted down.

“Next, I want you to implement the Vital Flame Cultivation throughout the entire military. Twenty people just isn’t enough.” Lana said.

Her fingers tapped a steady rhythm on the desk.

“Every soldier, no matter their branch or position, starts practicing. Make sure everyone trains for at least two hours a day.” Lana ordered.

“Lyra’s putting together her insights. Once she sends them over, we’ll combine them with Ms. Reed’s training manual and put together an official training course. We’ll roll it out across the military first,” Lana continued.

“Once the military figures out a universal approach, we’ll launch nationwide cultivation right away,” Lana said.

Garrett’s voice turned serious. “Understood, Chief Advisor!”

“And keep a close eye on those six who felt warmth in their palms. Track their progress every day and see if they’re the next batch of flame-wielders, Lana added.

“Got it, Chief Advisor, Garrett replied.

Lana hung up and sat back in her chair, running through everything in her mind.

Just a month ago, if anyone had mentioned nationwide cultivation, people would’ve thought you’d lost your mind.

But now, with the Vital Flame Cultivation, it was like rallying the troops for a comeback.

At the temporary camp on the outskirts of Sunvale, Lyra was sprawled out at a folding table, pen in her mouth, staring at a sheet of A4 paper.

She’d already written down her “insights, but honestly, it was just a few lines she remembered from the Vital Flame Cultivation.

Lyra stared at the paper, totally lost. She’d said yes without thinking, but now? How was she supposed to write this?

Shed just followed the steps in the handwritten manual: close your eyes, focus on your energy center, and guide it to your palm.

And just like that, it worked.

CYLA

Was there some secret technique involved?

Nope.

Any special insights?

None.

If she really had to put it into words, what was even on her mind back then?

Lyra thought. Honestly, nothing at all.

Yeah, she just let her mind go completely blank, then her core gave a little twitch, and boom, the flame showed up.

Lyra let out a sigh of relief and wrote down seriously: [Cultivation Tip: Just clear your mind, and the flame will come.]

She thought. That should do, right?”

Zoe walked over, handing Lyra a glass of water.

“What’s wrong?” Zoe asked.

Lyra looked up, looking totally defeated. “Zoe, I can’t write down my insights.”

Zoe set the water down on the corner of the table and glanced at the paper. “Hey, looks like you wrote something already.”

Lyra poked the paper with her pen. “Is just one sentence really okay?”

Zoe couldn’t help but smile at Lyra’s scrunched-up face.

“Why don’t you try breaking it down step by step?” Zoe suggested.

I did, Lyra replied.

She flipped to the next page, where she’d written three lines.

Step 1: Close your eyes.

Step 2: Empty your mind.

Step 3: The flame just popped out.

Zoe stared at it for a few seconds and thought, ‘Poor Lyra. This really is hard for her.
