Chapter 127
Chapter 127
THEA
jane walked up to the woman, raised her right hand, and held it above her head.
A faint glow seeped from her palm, drifting down in thin threads and settling on the woman’s crown.
Lyra stepped back a couple of paces, giving Jane some space. Her soul floated above, staring at Jane without blinking. completely focused.
One second passed.
Five seconds passed.
Ten seconds passed.
The woman didn’t react at all.
Jane ramped up the output, and the faint glow from her palm shifted from thin threads to a wide sheet, spilling down in a cascade.
Lyra’s gaze darted restlessly between Jane and the woman.
“Any change?” Lyra asked.
“Soul Power is flowing in,” Jane said, her voice tense. “But her soul is like a leaky bowl, most of what I pour in just drains away, and only a little sticks.”
Lyra leaned in, half her body stretching forward. “Where does it go?”
“Down,” Jane replied, her brow furrowing. “Into the earth.”
The Soul Power Jane poured in drained through the woman’s soul, slipping out through her feet and vanishing into the soil below.
She kept channeling everything into the earth.
Even as she was nearly burned out, even as her body was on the verge of breaking apart, her soul’s first instinct with the incoming Soul Power wasn’t to keep it for herself, it was to keep sending it downward.
Even if her soul shattered and scattered, she’d never back down from defending Draconia.
This wasn’t just some oath, it was hardwired into her soul. Lyra clenched her fists.
Jane pushed her Soul Power to the max, and her soul’s outline dimmed a shade.
Thirty seconds passed.
A minute passed.
The woman’s soul outline glowed faintly, and the cracked edges stopped crumbling. Lyra’s heart skipped a beat.
“It’s working! Jane, she’s glowing a little!” Lyra called out.
Jane didn’t say a word, her jaw clenched as she kept channeling her Soul Power.
Another thirty seconds ticked by. The glow around the woman’s soul finally steadied, but she still didn’t wake up.
Jane Lyra called softly.

“I know,” Jane replied, her voice strained and breathless. “It’s still not enough. Her Soul Power reserves are way too low. Most of what I pour in just gets sucked into the earth, barely twenty percent sticks with her.”
Lyra spun around in place, her mind racing.
Jane didn’t stop; she kept channeling her Soul Power out.
Two minutes passed.
Three minutes passed.
Jane’s soul outline had dimmed by a third, the glow visibly fading before their eyes.
“Jane, that’s enough,” Lyra said.
“Just a little more…” Jane muttered.
“Stop!” Lyra grabbed Jane’s wrist and yanked her hand away from the woman’s head.
Jane’s soul stumbled back, unsteady.
Ivana quickly floated over and caught her by the shoulder to steady her.
“Your hand’s almost see-through!” Lyra leaned in, staring at Jane’s palm. Her Soul Power was almost gone, and her fingers were shaking.
Jane looked down at her hand, clenched her fist, let go, then clenched it again.
“I’ve still got a bit left,” she said.
“A bit? My ass.” Lyra flipped Jane’s hand over. “If you keep pushing, what if you end up falling apart yourself?”
Jane didn’t argue. She turned to look at the woman inside the Ghost Wall, her soul outline was finally steadier than before.
“Doing this once won’t cut it,” Jane said quietly. “She’s way too fragile. Most of the Soul Power I pour in just gets sucked into the earth. If we want to wake her up, we’ll have to repeat this several times at least.”
Lyra bit her lip. “How are you holding up?”
“I’m wiped out,” Jane said honestly. “Just need a break. If I recharge in the Soul Deck for a few hours, I should be back to
normal.”
Lyra stared at her for a couple of seconds, making sure she wasn’t just putting on a brave face, then turned her gaze back to the woman inside the Ghost Wall.
“Time’s almost up,” Jane said, tilting her head. “We’ll come back next time.”
“Almost, but we’ve still got a bit left,” Lyra said, suddenly grabbing Jane’s wrist and dragging her deeper into the Wraith mist.
“Come on, let’s go hunt some Wraiths and help you recharge your Soul Power,” Lyra said.
Lyra dragged Jane forward, barely giving her time to react. Before they knew it, their souls had slipped through the innermost layer of the Ghost Wall. Ivana quickly rushed after them.
They rushed ahead through the mist, and Lyra soon spotted a Wraith sprawled on the ground. With a flick of her wrist, Wraithslayer flashed into her hand.
“Jane, stay put. Ivana, finish it.” Lyra ordered.

She let go of Jane’s wrist, her soul streaking forward like a shadow. Ivana was right on her heels, not hesitating for a second.
Wraithslayer sliced into the shadowy figure, and the Wraith let out a piercing shriek. Lyra kicked the Wraith, which had just sprouted black tentacles, right over to Jane’s feet.
“Absorb it! Hurry!” Lyra urged.
Jane didn’t hesitate. She crouched down, her Soul Power reaching out to pull the energy from the Wraith’s remains, drawing it strand by strand into her own body.
“Jane, here.” Ivana tossed another one over.
Jane spun around, grabbed it, and absorbed the energy right away.
Lyra and Ivana did the killing, Jane handled the absorption. Their teamwork was spot-on, and the number of Wraiths was perfect.
Third.
Fourth.
Fifth.
Jane’s soul started to shine again, going from almost see-through to solid. The Soul Power in her palm felt strong once more.
“That’s enough!” Jane stood up, flexing her hand. “I’ve got about fifty percent back. Once I get some rest in the Soul Deck, I’ll be back to full strength.”
Lyra sheathed Wraithslayer, turned around, and clapped her hands. “Let’s go. Time to head out.”
The three souls flew back, slipping through the Ghost Wall and the mist, until they reached the boundary.
Lyra recalled Ivana into the Soul Deck first, then looked over at Jane.
“You did great, Jane. Go get some rest,” Lyra said.
“Alright, Jane replied.
“Soul Deck, seal,” Lyra said.
A flash of white light, and Jane’s soul was drawn back into the card.
As soon as Lyra canceled the Transform Card, her body felt heavy again, and her feet landed solidly on the ground.
Zoe was already waiting at the rendezvous point. The moment she saw Lyra, she rushed over. “Lyra!”
“I’m all good, not a scratch!” Lyra said.
“Let’s go!” Zoe said.
Back at the temporary base, Lyra didn’t even pause to catch her breath. She pulled out her phone and called Lana.
“Lana,” Lyra said.
“You’re back?” Lana asked.
“Yeah, all good, no injuries or anything.” Lyra said, leaning against the car door. “But I’m not heading back to the Command

Center for now.”
Lana frowned. “What’s wrong? Did you run into trouble? I can send someone to help.
“No, I’m fine. I found the person from my dream inside the Ghost Wall. Her soul is almost gone, but I found a way to restore her Soul Power bit by bit. It’ll take several trips,” Lyra explained.
Lana let out a sigh of relief. “Is the method safe?”
“Yeah, it’s safe. Jane just pours Soul Power into her from above, no need to wake her up or anything. It won’t make her soul break down any faster. We already tried it, and it works,” Lyra replied.
Lana didn’t answer right away. “Lyra, how many uses do you have left on your Transform Card?”
“Three,” Lyra replied.
