Chapter 130
Chapter 130
After Lyra got into the car, she focused her mind, and a small flame appeared in her palm. She sent the flame to her shoulder, and the orange-red light clung to it.
“Zoe, you try it too,” Lyra said.
Zoe closed her eyes for a moment, and a Vital Flame appeared in her palm. She pressed it to her shoulder, and the flange lingered there.
It was slightly smaller than Lyra’s, but it burned steadily and didn’t go out.
“Keep an eye on your Vital Flame values,” Lyra said, pointing at Zoe’s shoulder. “And see how long you can keep the flam going.”
“Got it,” Zoe replied.
The engine roared to life, and the car shot out of the temporary camp, speeding down the road toward the Wraith zone
Soon, they reached the edge of the Wraith zone. Lyra didn’t rush to get out. Instead, she turned to Zoe.
“How’s it going?” Lyra asked.
Zoe pulled up her attribute panel, her eyes lighting up with surprise. “Lyra! I didn’t lose a single point of my Vital Flame values this time! Not even one.”
Lyra grinned. Last time Zoe brought her here, she hadn’t started Vital Flame Cultivation yet, and just reaching the edge of the Wraith zone cost her 2 points. But now, with the Vital Flame showing up and sticking to her, she didn’t lose anything.
“Looks like this method really works,” Zoe said, her excitement barely contained.
“What about the other aspects?” Lyra pressed. “How does your body feel?”
Zoe paused, sensing her body. “Keeping the Vital Flame external for long makes me tired, like I’m running out of strength. The longer I hold it, the harder it gets,”
“Can you still hold on?” Lyra asked.
“Yeah, I’m just a little tired right now, nowhere near my limit. Lyra, don’t worry. If I feel like I’m about to hit my limit, I’ll pull back before it gets too much,” Zoe replied.
She unbuckled her seatbelt and pushed the car door open. “I know my limits.”
Lyra got out after her. “Let’s go.”
She pulled out nine Soul Deck cards. “Release.”
Nine beams of white light shot out at once, and one after another, the souls drifted out of the cards.
With Jane, who had been released earlier, they made a group of twelve, heading straight into the Wraith zone.
As soon as they stepped into the Wraith zone, Zoe noticed the visibility dropped sharply.
The Vital Flame on Lyra’s shoulder lit up a patch of mist with a warm orange glow. Zoe stuck close to her, the two flames advancing side by side.
Soon, the Ghost Wall appeared in front of everyone.

Chapter 130
The souls automatically moved to the sides, opening up a path. Ten of them slipped in first, and Zoe stuck close to Lyra ban lagged half a step behind.
She couldn’t see the Ghost Wall.
All she could see was the gray mist and the line of souls ahead. But as they crossed a certain spot, she felt a creepy chill in her chest. Zoe rubbed her arms, trying to rub away the goosebumps.
After passing through the Ghost Wall, Zoe took in the ruined landscape ahead. “So this is the inside of the Wraith zone
“That’s right,” Lyra replied, pointing forward. “We’re just at the outskirts.”
Zoe glanced down at the ground. The earth was cracked and pale gray, bone dry. There wasn’t a hint of moisture anywhere
Jane drifted over to Lyra. “Lyra, aren’t we going to feed that soul some energy today?”
“Yeah, but first, let’s hunt some Wraiths. You guys level up, and we’ll handle that soul last,” Lyra replied.
Jane nodded.
Zoe looked away and suddenly asked, “Lyra, why can’t I see the Ghost Wall?”
Lyra gave her a puzzled look.
“I can see Jane,” Zoe said, pointing at Jane, then at the nine souls behind her. “And I can see them too. When we passed through the Ghost Wall just now, I could feel it in my chest, but my eyes didn’t see anything.”
She frowned. “I couldn’t see it in the video you took before, either. I thought it was just the camera, but now I guess it’s not.”
Lyra scratched her head, not really sure herself.
“Maybe it’s because Jane and the others were locked away in the Soul Deck, so they’re basically items now? They’re not like the souls naturally roaming the Ghost Wall,” Lyra said.
“I guess so, but I’m not really sure,” Zoe replied.
Lyra patted Zoe on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, Zoe. You’ve already mastered the Vital Flame Cultivation. Seeing ghosts is only a matter of time. The manual says so, you’ll get there soon enough!”
Zoe smiled. “Hope your words come true.”
The group kept moving forward, and after about 650 feet, they spotted a few Wraiths in the ruins ahead, crawling slowly across the ground.
Before Lyra could even say a word, the ten souls had already rushed out.
Jane reached them first and tore the Wraiths apart with soul power. Ivana followed, and the other eight rushed in too, each eager to show their skills and grab a target.
Zoe saw the souls fighting over the Wraiths like crazy and panicked. “Save one for me! Save one for me” she yelled, then bolted after them.
Lyra followed closely behind with her hands in her pockets, watching Zoe.
Zoe locked onto a lone Wraith to her right, pulled out her gun, took aim, and squeezed off two shots.
Bang! Bang!
The bullets punched through the Wraith’s chest, leaving two holes.

Chapter 130
The Wraith just staggered a bit, didn’t even flinch. Within three seconds, the holes fused shut, black tissue filling the gaps
The Wraith snapped its head toward Zoe and lunged right at her.
Zoe holstered her gun, muttering, “Figures, the gun’s useless.”
She focused her mind, gathering Vital Flame in her palm, then flicked her wrist and hurled the whole fireball straight at the Wraith.
The moment the fireball hit the Wraith’s chest, it burned a fist-sized hole right through.
The Wraith let out a blood-curdling scream.
Lyra narrowed her eyes. Black tentacles reached from every edge of the hole, trying to seal it, but they moved at least three times slower than when she’d cut it with Wraithslayer.
Whenever the tips of the tentacles touched the lingering Vital Flame, they’d shrink back, then tentatively reach out again. only to recoil once more.
“Vital Flame is effective against these Wraiths too,” Lyra muttered to herself.
The Wraith, dragging its mangled body, turned and tried to run.
Zoe wasn’t about to let it escape. She remembered Lyra saying its fatal spot was the head. She summoned another Vital Flame in her palm, took aim, and flung it straight at its skull.
The instant the flame hit, half the Wraith’s head was scorched away. The rest hung crookedly from its neck, mouth twisted open, screeching even louder than before.
The Wraith hit the ground, limbs jerking uncontrollably, but stubbornly clung to life.
Lyra crouched down next to the Wraith, and Zoe followed suit. The ten souls, fresh from finishing off the other Wraiths. rushed over and formed a tight circle around the barely alive Wraith, leaving no gaps.
“Seriously? It’s still kicking?” Lyra jabbed the remaining half of its head with Wraithslayer. “Man, this thing’s got some serious staying power.”
“Jane.” Zoe looked up at her. “Can you check if that energy blob in its head is still there? Hope the fire didn’t wipe it out.”
Jane spread her soul sense, scanning the area. “It’s still there. If it wasn’t, this thing would’ve been dead meat ages ago.”
Lyra pointed Wraithslayer at the Wraith’s chest, watching as the black tentacles twisted and tangled together, rapidly closing up the massive hole, now only half its original size.
“Damn, that’s wild. That hole was huge a second ago, and those tentacles are already sealing it up so fast,” Lyra said.
