Chapter 186

55 vouche

The Level 2 Wraith on the right saw its companion’s chest explode, and all three of its eyes lit up at once. It let out a series of rapid, guttural roars.

“It’s summoning more Wraiths!” Zoe shouted urgently. “Lyra, watch out for the bone spikes!”

Lyra was just about to fire a second shot when the Wraith on the right suddenly swung its arms. Three bone spikes shot off its arms, flying straight at her face.

She dodged left and right, barely avoiding the spikes as they whizzed past her and slammed into the ground behind her

Lyra steadied herself and looked up. The Level 2 Wraith on the right spun around and bolted into the depths of the ruins. It was fast, its tail sweeping across the ground and sending chunks of rubble flying everywhere.

Jane sprinted after it. “I’ll handle it.”

“Jane, don’t go too deep!” Lyra shouted.

“Got it,” Jane replied.

Without looking back, Jane sent her soul power surging forward, chasing after the fleeing Level 2 Wraith.

The remaining souls swarmed the last Level 2 Wraith. Black tentacles snaked from the hole in its chest, trying to patch its shattered shell. It wanted to escape but could not. Its three eyes darted wildly, sweeping dark red light everywhere.

“Watch out for its eyes!” Zoe shouted.

“To the left!” Lyra called out.

“Watch the front!” Zoe warned.

Sunhwa and Ivana struck one after the other, their soul power shooting straight into the Wraith’s chest wound and immediately starting to drain its energy.

The Wraith let out a blood-curdling scream, its three eyes locked onto them.

Lyra raised her gun. “Get out of the way!”

The souls scattered at her command. The Wraith, now free from their grip, spun around and tried to bolt, but Lyra pulled the trigger. With a loud bang, the Wraith’s head exploded.

With its head gone, the Wraith had no way to attack the souls anymore. Ivana seized the chance, driving her soul power straight into its core.

“Found it!” Ivana shouted.

The other souls weren’t about to miss out. They all rushed in, fighting over the energy inside the Wraith’s chest cavity.

The Wraith’s resistance faded fast.

Clara was a step late, sounding anxious. “Leave some for me! I need to heal up a bit!”

“Don’t be shy, just drain it!” Sunhwa said, making room for Clara.

Seven streams of soul power sucked the energy dry all at once. Within ten seconds, the Level 2 Wraith’s limbs dropped lifelessly.

Chapter 186

“It’s dead,” Ivana said, stepping back.

Lyra looked toward where Jane had chased after the Level 2 Wraith. “How’s Jane doing?”

Just as she finished speaking, a muffled explosion echoed from the distance.

Jane had caught up to the fleeing Level 2 Wraith.

The Wraith spun around, all three eyes blazing as it unleashed their power at Jane.

Jane didn’t take the attack head-on. She weaved around it with agile footwork, shaping her soul power into a sharp cone and thrusting it right at the Wraith’s chest.

The Wraith raised its arms to shield its chest.

“Wrong move,” Jane said.

With her soul power shaped into a sharp cone, Jane darted around to its back and stabbed it from behind.

The Wraith’s ashen shell cracked with a sharp snap.

After piercing the Wraith’s back, Jane didn’t rush to drain its energy. Instead, she channeled her soul power right into the back of its head.

The Wraith opened its mouth, about to let out a scream.

“Shut up.” Jane muttered, and with a violent squeeze, bang!, the Wraith’s head popped.

With its eyes no longer a threat, Jane sent her soul power straight through the Wraith’s chest, ripping the energy right out of it.

In no time, the Wraith hit the ground, all resistance snuffed out.

When Jane made her way back to the group, she was practically glowing, her presence noticeably brighter than just moments ago.

Lyra whipped out her Soul Deck and started flipping through the cards. When she landed on Jane’s card, her eyes lit up.

“Jane!” Lyra called out.

Jane turned to her. “What’s up?”

Lyra held the card up to her. “You’ve reached A Tier!”

Jane glanced at the card, and sure enough, her rank was now clearly marked as A Tier.

“I really made it to A Tier,” Jane said, a hint of surprise in her voice.

Lyra couldn’t stop grinning. “A Tier, Jane! Does this mean I can finally walk around like I own the place?”

Zoe swung the camera over. “Lyra, don’t get too cocky. You’ll just end up getting skewered by bone spikes.”

Ivana drifted over, raising her hand. “Lyra, check me out! I feel like I’ve gotten stronger. Did I level up too?”

“Come on, let’s check everyone!” Lyra said.

Lyra flipped to Ivana’s card first.

“Ivana, you’re B Tier!” Lyra announced.

Ivana clapped her hands. “Hell yeah!”

Sunhwa leaned in. “What about me?”

“You’re still C+ Tier, but you’re almost there!” Lyra said.

Sunhwa nodded. “Guess I’ll just drain a few more Level 2 Wraiths.”

Clara drifted up to the front. “Hey, what about me?”

Lyra flipped to her card and hesitated for a moment. “Clara, you’re still at C+ Tier.”

Clara’s shoulders dropped. “Ugh, it’s gotta be that injury from yesterday. Totally messed up my progress./

Lyra tried to comfort her. “You’re still healing. Once you’re back in shape, you’ll definitely rank up.”

Clara eyed the Level 2 Wraith’s corpse on the ground. “Next time, I’m sucking up way more energy.”

Zoe was crouched next to the Level 2 Wraith, getting another shot of its chest, bone spikes, tail, and the shell. The three eyes? Well, the head’s blown up, so no eyes left to film.

Once she finished, Zoe stood up and glanced deeper into the ruins. “That thing just roared, probably calling for backup. Should we bail?”

Jane looked up, scanning the area with her soul power. After a few seconds, she said, “No rush.”

Lyra looked at her. “How many?”

“Not seeing any packs of Level 2 Wraiths for now,” Jane replied.

Jane pointed ahead. “If it calls in a bunch of Level 2 Wraiths, we bail. If it’s just a few, we can take them out.”

Zoe nodded. “Now that you’ve hit A Tier, your speed and firepower are off the charts. Let’s give it a shot.”

Lyra immediately raised her hand. “Lana said we shouldn’t go too deep. Just stick to the outer area.”

Zoe packed up her gear and nodded. “Let’s switch directions. We’ll move sideways, not go any deeper.

The group kept moving forward. Maybe it was because they’d changed direction, but after about half a mile, the number of Level I Wraiths started to pick up again.

Lyra didn’t even have to lift a finger, the souls were already charging in with wild enthusiasm.

Clara was the most aggressive, lunging forward and using her soul power to wrench off a Level I Wraith’s head, then sucked it dry of every last drop of energy.

Lyra kept an eye on her as they walked. “Clara, you’re almost there. You’re looking a lot more solid now.”

Clara perked up right away. “Bring it on!”

Meanwhile, the internet was blowing up.

Draconia’s official site dropped the Vital Flame Cultivation method at 10 AM sharp.
