Chapter 90

“Keep them together for now,” Lyra said.

Lyra glanced at the ten cats on the table. “If one of them wakes up alone, in a strange place without its buddies, it might panic and go wild. Your team won’t be able to calm it down.”

Lana tapped her fingers on the edge of the table.

“Let’s put them in the room right across from mine,” Lyra said. “Just tweak the setup a bit, so I can rush over as soon as they wake up.”

Lana paused for a couple of seconds.

“Alright, we’ll use the room opposite yours. I’ll get someone to fix it up right away,” she replied.

She gave the staff a nod.

“Make sure there are enough soft mats, litter boxes, and water bowls for all ten cats. And hook up the cameras to Lyra’s room screen so she can keep an eye on them,” Lana said.

The staff got the instructions and left.

Lyra gave each of the ten cats a gentle pat on the head-they all felt so soft and nice.

“Come on,” Lana said, giving her a friendly pat on the shoulder. “Let’s go eat.”

Lyra’s attention instantly shifted from the cats.

“Food!” she exclaimed.

She followed Lana to the cafeteria entrance, but when the door swung open, Lyra stopped in her tracks.

“Whoa, this is a feast!” Lyra exclaimed.

The same table was there, but now it was loaded with every kind of dish you could imagine-it looked like something straight out of a royal banquet!

“This is all the stuff you brought out from the game,” Lana said.

Lana walked up beside her, speaking more slowly than usual.

“Rice, veggies, meat, oil, spices-whatever you packed into those containers, it all got multiplied thousands of times when it showed up here,” Lana explained.

Lyra stared at the food, her throat tightening as she swallowed.

“Most of the food shortage is gone now,” Lana said.

Lana led Lyra to the table. “Lyra, you said you wanted everyone to have enough to eat.”

Lyra looked at Lana, who met her gaze with a serious look. “You made it happen.”

Lyra’s lips quirked as she fought to keep her smile down, but in the end, she couldn’t help it-her grin broke through.

She turned away, grabbed her chopsticks, picked up a piece of braised pork, and popped it into her mouth. “Enough talking. let’s eat!”

As the savory juices burst in her mouth, she felt the tension melt away from her shoulders.

Lana sat across from her, elbows propped on the table, just watching Lyra enjoy her meal.

Chapter 90

“We’re still counting up all the food. The logistics team is pulling an all-nighter to figure it out, Lana said.

Lyra, with her mouth full, mumbled, “Mm-hmm.”

“Once the counting’s done, we’ll dispatch the first batch to all the districts tomorrow, Lana said.

“Mm-hmm, Lyra mumbled.

Lyra scooped up some greens, pressed them into her rice, and shoved the whole bite into her mouth.

“And once we finish this batch, the timing will be just right for the next harvest,” Lana said.

Lyra looked up at her, cheeks puffed out with food.

Lana tapped her finger on the table. “It’ll match up perfectly with the first crop from the main grain fields.”

Lyra swallowed her food. “So it’s a seamless handoff?”

“Even better-it’s totally seamless,” Lana replied.

Just as they’d figured out how to boost the three Vital Flame values, Lyra showed up with all the raw materials they needed. Lana’s gaze grew serious as she realized this.

“Lyra, you’ve totally turned around the entire food chain for Draconia,” Lana said.

Lyra, still chewing, mumbled and waved her hand dismissively.

“On behalf of the nation and the people…” Lana began.

“No, no, no!” Lyra blurted out.

Lyra almost dropped her chopsticks, quickly swallowing the food in her mouth.

“Lana, don’t do that-it’s way too cheesy!” Lyra said.

Lana couldn’t help but smile. “Alright, alright, I’ll stop. Just eat.”

Lyra lowered her head and took a couple more bites, then looked up again.

“Lana,” she said.

“Yeah?” Lana replied.

“Lil Lily’s coming here too, right?” Lyra asked.

Lana nodded. “Garrett already went to pick them up, but Lily’s family lives pretty far away.”

Lana glanced at the clock on the wall. “The earliest they’ll get here is midnight.”

Lyra let out a soft “oh,” then took a couple more bites. But halfway through chewing, she suddenly stopped.

“Lana, can we save some food for Lil Lily? She’ll probably be starving when she gets here,” Lyra said.

“We’ve already got it ready. When they arrive, they’ll have a hot meal waiting,” Lana replied.

Lyra nodded, feeling relieved, and went back to eating.

Lana just watched her eat, not rushing her at all. Only when Lyra finally put down her chopsticks did Lana ask, “All done?”
