Chapter 89
Draconia Strategic Command.
Lana Sterling stared at the screen, the announcement voice flipping wildly between D and S.
“Chief Advisor, what’s wrong with the System?” Garrett asked, setting his pen down.
Lana didn’t answer.
Garrett stood up and walked to the big screen. “Lyra used Dream Butterfly to wake up the cats’ collective consciousness. The System just rage-quit and stopped the mission. Then she entered the reward pool, and the System started glitching agam
“Putting it all together, the System is targeting her,” Garrett said, thinking maybe it had something to do with the food transport too.
Lana tapped her nails on the desk. “Not necessarily. If it was really targeting her, it would just hand her a D Tier. But right now, two outcomes are clashing over her. That means the System’s internal logic is at odds.”
Garrett turned to look at her.
“One rule wants to give her the worst, the other thinks she deserves the best,” Lana said.
Lana lowered her voice. “The System isn’t a single entity, Garrett. There are two sets of logic inside, and they’re in conflict.”
Garrett was in disbelief. The System has two sets of logic?’
On the screen, the white beam suddenly flashed brightly.
The announcement finally settled.
[Congratulations to Draconian player Lyra Vance for drawing an S Tier reward: Soul Deck.]
Lana pulled her hand back from the desk.
‘S Tier. We won,’ she thought.
The white light in the beam faded, and Lyra stepped out, holding a deck of black cards with gold designs.
Lily was the first to rush over. “Goddess Lyra! What was that? The announcement kept jumping between D and S!”
“No idea,” Lyra said, flipping through the cards. “Probably the System just glitched out.”
Lina followed behind, her cheeks still red from nerves. “Did you feel anything in there?”
“Just the light flickering, like those old hospital hallway lights when I was a kid, Lyra replied.
Lydia glanced at the cards in Lyra’s hand. “S Tier Soul Deck. Congrats.”
“Fifty-four cards,” Lyra said, riffling through the deck. “That means I can seal fifty-four souls.”
Lily’s eyes went wide. “So the cats could…”
Lyra raised a finger to her lips and gave Lily a quick shake of her head.
Lily clamped down on the rest of her words. With players from other countries nearby, some things were better left unsaid.

On the Draconia livestream, the chat was blowing up.
momo: [S Tier! Again! Goddess Lyra, are you insanely lucky or what?]
BornToCuss: [When the announcement kept flipping between D and S, my heart almost stopped! System, are you trying to kill me or something?]
AnotherDayAlive: [Soul Deck! Fifty-four cards! With Dream Butterfly, isn’t this basically a cat collector card Wait, scratch that-it’s a Wraith collector card!]
LyraSuperfan: [So Goddess Lyra got an S, and Lil Lily got an S too! Draconia got two S Tiers in one round! Ahhh!]
NeverAteVeggies: [LuckyKoi, are you really that lucky? I’ve grown up and still never had veggies-can you bless me so I finally get to eat some soon?]
LuckyKoi: [I got you covered! Tomorrow for sure! Just trust me!]
Nutrient GooSucks: [LOL, LuckyKoi, you’re not afraid to make any promise, are you?]
GoDraconia: [No matter what, we scored big this round!]
The System’s announcement wasn’t done yet.
[Detected 43 nations still holding territory on this planet.]
There were 48 last round, now five more are out.
[Next round, seven additional players will be randomly selected from the remaining 43 nations.]
[To meet the minimum 50-player requirement.]
Lily leaned in, keeping her voice just between them. “Goddess Lyra, only 43 nations left. The number keeps dropping.”
“Yeah, Lyra replied.
“Those countries that disappeared…” Lily murmured.
“Don’t worry about it,” Lyra said, tapping Lily lightly on the head. “Thinking about it won’t help. Just focus on staying alive.”
Lily pressed her lips together and nodded.
“Lyra.” Alex approached Lyra, addressing her directly, his tone noticeably more subdued than before.
Lyra looked at him but didn’t say anything.
“I drew an A Tier item,” Alex said, offering the mirror for her to see. “Fate Mirror, nerfed version-only lets you ask one question, then it shatters.”
Lyra suddenly pictured that classic scene: ‘Fate Mirror, Fate Mirror, who’s the fairest of them all?’
“Lyra, Alex called again. “What question do you want to ask?”
Lydia took position beside Lyra, and Lina stepped forward, ready to back her up.
Alex raised his hand to show he meant no harm. “Take it easy, I’m here to talk about working together.”

Chapter 90
A flash of white light, and Lyra found herself standing inside the Monitoring Room, with Lana and her team waiting just outside.
“Lana!” Lyra called out, her eyes sparkling with joy.
Lyra’s eyes curved with her smile as she held both arms out toward them.
“Come help me with these cats! My arms are about to fall off!” Lyra laughed.
Lana reached out and took a Silver Whisper from Lyra. The cat’s body was limp, its legs dangling, but its breathing was steady.
“Is it alive?” Lana asked.
“Of course it’s alive, just sleeping,” Lyra replied.
Lana cradled the Silver Whisper in her arm, then checked its eyelid with her other hand. The pupil responded to the light. and everything seemed normal.
