Chapter 105 The Drug Was Taking Hold

“What the hell is Elian doing?” Nathan muttered, confused.

Liana gave the staircase a cool glance and kept walking.

Nathan instinctively looked from Elian’s retreating figure to Liana.

“You see? Elian went upstairs with Anya. In front of everyone,” Cecilia said, blocking the doorway with her friends once more.

“Out of the way,” Liana retorted, frustrated by their persistence.

“You’re the stray here! And soon to be the ex-wife,” someone shot back.

“Elian and Anya are meant to be. Him going upstairs with her in front of everyone proves who he really loves. If you had any sense-”

“Elian…”

Anya’s friends suddenly looked past Liana.

Everyone turned.

Nathan, Xander, and the others watched as Elian appeared at the top of the stairs and then practically ran down them.

His long legs carried him swiftly. Within seconds, he was behind Liana.

She turned and saw him.

He stood tall and imposing before her, slightly breathless, his gaze fixed and certain on hers. “Let’s go home.”

He took her hand again.

Her heart, which had turned cold for him, now burned.

He always managed to stir something inside her with such ease.

She was angry that he still affected her, but as he led her toward the exit, she didn’t pull away.

She wanted to leave this place.

“Elian! Elian!”

Anya rushed out after them but was quickly intercepted by household staff.

“Miss Forrest, Mr. Forrest requests you stay inside.”

Trapped, Anya watched them go, her fingernails digging so deep into her palms they drew blood.

As Liana was led by Elian across the manicured lawn, a gust of wind felt like a breath of freedom.

But the moment they were inside his custom Rolls-Royce, he pulled her close and his mouth was on hers.

Alarm bells shrieked in her head. “Elian! What are you doing?”

“Stop telling me no,” he growled against her lips before capturing them again.

Liana couldn’t push him away. His kiss grew more intense, desperate, like a starved predator devouring its prey.

“Stop it, Elian!”

“Unless you say you love me.”

He paused for only a second before his lips trailed down to the fragrant hollow of her neck.

Her attire tonight was captivating enough; combined with the fire roaring inside him, it was too much.

“We’re getting a divorce. I’ll get our marriage certificate from your mother tomorrow, I—”

Her words were cut off, not by his lips, but by his hand covering her mouth.

He silenced her, his kisses moving lower, inch by deliberate inch.

The driver

up front discreetly raised the privacy partition, focusing on the road.

Elian’s phone buzzed incessantly in his trouser pocket. Annoyed, he pulled it out with one hand while his mouth found the delicate curve of her collarbone.

Seeing Anya’s name, he rejected the call and tossed the phone aside, his attention wholly on Liana.

She tried to shove him away, but his grip on her waist tightened. He seemed to grasp for a shred of remaining control, his voice strained. “Home or Riverview Avenue?”

“Riverview Avenue. But Elian, you have to stop,” Liana insisted, seeing his intent to kiss her

again. She pressed her palm against his mouth.

:

Elian stared at her, breath held, the whites of his eyes now laced with red.

Yeah-the drug was taking hold.

Did she think he just wanted to kiss?

His gaze grew more intense, more demanding.

Her long dress was pushed up around her waist. With only thin layers of fabric separating them, panic seized her.

This wasn’t like him.

Even during the best of their times together, he had never been like this.

His breathing was different, ragged.

The car pulled up to her apartment building on Riverview Avenue. Elian didn’t wait. He scooped her up, carried her out of the car, and strode toward the entrance.

Her purse and heels were left behind in the car.
