His Hidden Family My Ruined Marriage (Liana) novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12 The Final Goodbye

Elian wouldn’t have to worry about divorcing her without harming the Locke Group’s reputation.

And she wouldn’t have to endure him sending Anya to Humiliate her on his behalf.

But God, it hurt.

“Why get a divorce? You finally landed a billionaire. Shouldn’t you be clinging on for dear life, draining him dry?” Nathan pressed.

Liana let out a soft, sad laugh. A tear rolled down and clung to her chin, but her voice was controlled and

clear.

“If he asks if I left any message… just tell him I’m grateful he was part of my life these two years. I wish him well. From here on, we go our separate ways.”

Liana left the office and returned to the apartment they shared.

She’d wanted to leave the night she learned about his other family. Delaying it only led to this same

outcome.

She packed her belongings into a suitcase one by one, quietly erasing her presence.

She’d thought the end of a marriage should be amicable

At the very least, they should say a proper goodbye.

As she placed the last few items inside, she knelt lightly before the suitcase to close it. Suddenly, a single tear fell, hitting the fabric with force. She held her breath. Then another. And another…

She’d always thought their love was different. He had integrity and genuine feelings. Turns out, same old

story.

Now she was alone again. She lifted her gaze to the bed where they’d once burned for each other, and the irony cut deep.

What did all those heated kisses and possessions mean, anyway?

She steeled herself, closed the suitcase, and left.

Elian got back early from his trip and crashed at the club past midnight.

His phone rested on his stomach, his arm covering his eyes, which felt hot and strained.

The phone rang.

Xander pushed the door open just as Elian, as if grasping for something urgent, sat bolt upright and answered.

“Found her?”

“Yes. Mrs. Locke has rented an apartment on Riverview Avenue.”

Before his man could finish reporting, Elian was already grabbing his jacket and heading out, phone still to

his ear.

Xander said nothing, stepping back silently as Elian strode past. He even broke into a run on the stairs.

Going after Liana?

Xander had never seen him so frantic. But he’d heard Liana left the signed divorce papers and her wedding ring.

Elian never spoke of Liana to them. Everyone said he married her to spite Anya. Was that true?

When Elian reached Riverview Avenue, he spotted a dingy fifth-floor unit with a faint light on.

Liana had just showered and was looking for her folic acid. Hearing the doorbell, she went to answer.

Lily had stayed with her the last couple of nights, so she thought it was Lily. But opening the door, she saw the face of the man who was supposed to be away on a week-long trip. Instinctively, she tried to slam the door shut.

“Liana! Ah!” Elian called out urgently.

At the same time, his long leg shot forward, blocking the door.

Liana heard a sickening thud. Looking down, she saw the door had caught his leg, and she immediately let go of the handle.

Elian winced in pain, but seizing her moment of shock, he quickly slipped inside.

Chapter 13 He’s Here to Apologize

Liana turned to face him. Having no choice, she closed the door and followed him inside.

“I’ve already signed the divorce papers. There’s no need for us to see each other again.”

“What papers?”

He sat down on the small, cramped sofa, rubbing his leg his tone irritable.

His leg felt broken, and all she could think about was divorce papers?

Was she that desperate to divorce him?

Did divorcing him come with some sort of prize?

Liana stepped closer. “Nathan must have told you. He drafted the papers himself.”

His friends all wanted them to divorce. Nathan would have told him the moment she signed.

“He didn’t mention it.”

Elian looked up at her, a dangerous glint in his eyes. He a dead man.

“No way.”

Liana was certain. Nathan would have told him

“If you don’t believe me, call him and ask.”

Elian watched her stubborn, almond-shaped eyes, kindly reminding her.

Liana instinctively wanted to call Nathan. But then she remembered and sighed, “I don’t have his number.”

“Here.”

Elian had already taken out his phone and handed it to her, one hand still gently massaging his injured leg.

Liana thought this wasn’t the time for pride. She took it. But the moment her fingers closed around the phone, a scorching grip encircled her wrist. Dizzy for a moment, she found herself sitting squarely on his lap.

He held her securely. “Call him right here.”

Angry and flustered, Liana met his gaze, wanting only to end this. But when she needed to enter the passcode, she looked at him again.

“Last six digits of your ID,” Elian said.

Liana’s heart skipped a beat. Punching in the code made her weirdly self-conscious.

Elian pulled her closer, his deep eyes quietly observing her long lashes, her gentle nose, her red lips-small and tempting, like ripe cherries.

Opening his call log, Liana saw Nathan’s name at the top Anya’s second. Seeing that name brought a bitter taste to her mouth, but she quickly dialed Nathan and pt the phone to her ear.
