Chapter 121 Discuss the Divorce Details

Anya was wearing a bathrobe, her hand clasping Elian’s in a disturbingly intimate manner.

Suddenly, Liana remembered the phone call earlier.

Anya had been there.

She looked down at the water glass in her hand. What was I even worried about?

He clearly didn’t need her concern.

She had no intention of walking over and interrupting. Spotting a small side table nearby, she quietly set the glass down, turned, and left.

Elian’s gaze shifted to her retreating figure. “Ms. Keane,” he said, his voice carrying across the room. “See you at the courthouse once we’re back in Alderidge.”

Liana paused for a fraction of a second, then kept walking.

The moment she was gone, Elian released Anya’s hand. “Get out.”

Anya stared at him, stunned. “Why are you kicking me out? Let me stay and take care of you.”

“Don’t make me say it again. Out.”

His voice was icy. He stood up and headed for the stairs without a backward glance.

Anya remained seated. She’d already showered. She wasn’t planning to leave.

He was about to divorce Liana, and they were in another city.

She’d driven hundreds of miles to be here. She wasn’t leaving easily.

Back at her own hotel, Liana stood frozen before the elevator doors.

She’d read Chloe’s message about her husband being in their room.

As she considered getting another room, the elevator dinged open.

Quentin was inside.

He stepped out. The blue dress shirt suited him, giving him a gentle, scholarly air.

“Why aren’t you in your room?” he asked, puzzled.

“I…” Liana started to explain but faltered. “What about you? Heading out this late?”

“Got a sudden craving. Want to join me?”

“Sure.”

She was hungry too. She nodded and walked out with him.

The cotton candy was probably still at the hospital and would end up in a trash bin soon enough.

No one cared. She only remembered it occasionally.

Soon, they were at a late-night food truck, ordering beef noodle soup.

Quentin cleaned the utensils for her and poured her some water. Seeing the weariness in her eyes, he asked gently, “Pregnancy tiring you out?”

“It’s okay.”

The worst of the morning sickness was long past.

After the first trimester, the nausea faded and her appetite returned.

The real exhaustion came from life-a life that didn’t go your way.

Three days later, on the highway back to Alderidge, Elian’s car was behind their bus.

Lily happened to glance out the window and was stunned to see Anya’s head resting on Elian’s shoulder through the half-open window.

Ever since Elian had rescued Liana from the Forrest Villa, Lily had been convinced he loved Liana. Deeply.

But seeing this scene with her own eyes, she instinctively wanted to tell Liana, but when she turned, she saw the unmistakable, poorly-concealed hurt in Liana’s downcast eyes.

Lily suddenly understood. Liana had seen it too.

Their bus was slower than the luxury car, and the distance between them quickly grew.

Sitting beside her, Lily asked softly, “Did you know Anya came too?”

“Yeah.”

Liana’s reply was barely audible.

She didn’t just know. She’d seen it firsthand.

If Anya was in his room, why did he come to see me?

Was it on purpose?

One last humiliation before the divorce?

Liana kept her head down, her finger lightly tracing the pale band of skin where her wedding ring used to sit.

The mark hadn’t faded yet.

As soon as they entered the city limits, Liana’s phone rang. It was Elian. “Tomorrow morning?”

“Yeah.”

“Get off the bus. We need to discuss the divorce details.”

He hung up.

Immediately, their bus pulled over. Confused, Liana looked outside.
