Chapter 133 Are You Really This Heartless?
“Did Elian dock your pay?”
“You don’t even work for my grandson. Why would he have the right to mess with you?”
Linda and Rosalind asked in quick succession.

“I was fired,” the man explained, his eyes pleadingly shifting to Liana. “That night, somehow, a Miss Forrest entered Mr. Locke’s suite. When Mr. Locke found out, he was furious. I was dismissed on the spot. I went to the Locke Group several times to apologize again, but never got to see him. I had no choice but to come here.”
“How did this Miss Forrest enter Mr. Locke’s suite without the passcode?” Liana asked calmly, having grasped the situation.
The events of that night were still vivid, each moment etched in her memory.
“Security footage showed Mr. Locke didn’t close the door properly when he left. Miss Forrest entered on her own. When Mr. Locke returned, he was with you,” the man elaborated.
In just a few sentences, the reason for Anya’s presence in his room that night was clarified.
A bitter ache welled up inexplicably in Liana’s chest.
He never wanted to explain anything properly to her.
Like he’d decided that whatever happened, she just had to take it.
Hearing that, Linda and Rosalind finally let out the breath they’d been holding.
Liana didn’t want someone to lose their livelihood over a misunderstanding. She turned to the butler. “Could you please ask Elian to come down?”
“Yes, of course,” the butler replied, noticing the faint sheen of moisture in Liana’s. eyes. He immediately headed upstairs.
“That boy never bothers to explain anything properly. No wonder you’re determined to break things off with him,” Linda said to Liana.
Liana remained silent. A maid brought over a small plate of soft cookies suitable for Theo. Liana took one and placed it gently in the boy’s hand.
Theo happily nibbled away, but by the time he finished the cookie, his father still hadn’t appeared.

The butler returned, looking somewhat embarrassed. “Mr. Locke says he’s in a meeting.”
“A meeting at this hour? What nonsense is that?” Rosalind snapped, indignant.

The Lockes did not believe in brushing people off so dismissively. Everyone deserved respect.
“Liana, you should probably go up and talk to him yourself. I have a feeling he’s just waiting for you,” Linda suggested, a mother’s intuition at work.
“Alright.”
Although reluctant, Liana felt responsible since the man had come so far.
Moreover, a nagging suspicion told her there was more to this story than met the eye.
She went upstairs. Elian was reclining against the headboard, scrolling on his phone. His deep eyes immediately locked onto her the moment she entered.
Liana stopped near the foot of the bed, keeping her distance. “You need to come downstairs.”
“No.”
Elian refused flatly and returned his attention to his phone.
But when she said nothing more, he couldn’t resist glancing her way again. Seeing her stubborn silence, he turned his back to her.
“I don’t want anyone losing their job because of me.”
She suspected Elian had deliberately directed the man here.
Elian’s eyes flashed, sharp, then he shot back, wounded, “But my wife sees me and wants to puke because of it.”
“Even if nothing happened between you and Anya that night-so what?” Her eyes burned, but she kept her tone level as she addressed the issue.
Elian’s gaze grew deep and turbulent as he turned to look at her.
“I know about you and Anya… and Theo,” Liana continued.
Elian narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “What do you know?”
“Theo isn’t your child. Anya was with another man.” Liana took a steadying breath, speaking earnestly.
Truthfully, since he hadn’t wanted to talk about it, she hadn’t planned to bring it up.

They were both adults. Their own marriage was ending, and his past with other women was none of her business.
But tonight he’d dragged an FS staffer all the way here to explain this to her-way over the top.
To keep anything like this from happening again, she decided to say
After hearing her out, Elian sat up straight, staring at her with intense scrutiny.
“There’s something you seem to have wrong,” Liana pressed on.
“Go on,” Elian said, his expression darkening completely.
