Chapter 167 Someone’s Been Watching Us
It really was disconnected.
He frowned, quickly put his phone down, and gave her serious look. “So you turned so cold on me because the camera feed went offline?”
“Cold? I’m just acting like a normal person would,” Liana countered.
It was just that one incident after another had revealed his true nature.
Besides, what was left for them? Pleasantries? Those were long gone.
“I didn’t disable it,” he stated calmly.
Liana just gave a scornful snort.
Yeah, right. As if I’d believe him.
Right now, in her mind, he and Anya were two of a kind,
A pair of liars.
Perfect for each other.
They hid behind the word love, but who knew how low they stooped in private.
The car soon pulled into the hospital parking lot.
Liana got out immediately and hurried toward the entrance.
Elian was a few steps behind but quickly caught up.
Watching her stride with such purpose, as if she already held proof of Anya’s abuse, he had no choice but to follow.
But one thing gave him a sliver of comfort.
It was 5:05 AM, and she was here at the hospital.
It proved she no longer resented Theo. Maybe she cared for him deeply.
If that was true, then they-
In the elevator, Elian stood beside her and murmured, Relax. I’m here.”
Liana frowned and shot him a glare. Then her mind wet blank again.
I rushed here because of a nightmare. I must be losing it.
But she was already here. Might as well check.
He knew her suspicions anyway.
“Sweetie, don’t cry. It’s all Mommy’s fault. I wish I could take the pain for you.”
As Liana pushed the door open, she saw Anya holding Theo by the bed, weeping and apologizing.
Theo was crying too.
Elian followed her in, his brow furrowing. “What’s going on?”
Anya’s voice suddenly cut through the room. She pulled the small camera from the potted plant.
Both Elian and Liana looked at her. Anya held it up, walking toward Elian. “Look, Elian. Someone’s been watching us.”
“Probably someone watered the plants,” Elian said, glancing at the device, then at Liana, his voice low.
“Yeah, but who’s that nasty, trying to film us? What are they after? If they’re trying to catch something private… that’d be a nightmare.”
Anya looked genuinely worried.
“We-”
“Elian, you have to find out who did this. Don’t let them get away with it.”
“It was me. No need to investigate,” Liana stated bluntly. She was past caring.
Theo’s little body still shuddered with hiccups in her arms, but his crying had lessened. This only confirmed to Liana that he’d been wronged.
“What? You put it there? Why?” Anya asked, her shock seeming genuine, more surprised than angry.
“Because-”
“I placed it there myself,” Elian cut in before Liana could speak. “Theo kept crying. I wanted to find out why.”
His explanation was simple and direct.
Anya felt as if she’d been struck by lightning internally, but her face remained a mask of gentle concern. She wasn’t angry; she was all understanding.
“Elian, you and Liana suspected me of abusing Theo? I can understand Liana’s suspicion, but you? You know me. We did charity work together since we were kids. I can’t stand to see children suffer. I despise parents who hurt their kids. Remember that time we visited that low-income family? The parents were abusing their child. I was the first one to rush in and stop them. even got my head cut open. Don’t you remember?”
