His Hidden Family My Ruined Marriage (Liana) novel Chapter 168

Chapter 168 Theo’s Choice

“It wasn’t about suspecting you. We just wanted to know why he kept crying.”

“Of course Theo’s hurting. He fell from such a high staircase, and he’s so delicate,” Anya patiently explained.

But Elian’s gaze held a new coolness toward her.

“And besides, it’s no secret I’m in love with you. I know Theo is as important as life itself to you. Hurting him would be like pushing you away with my own hands, wouldn’t it?” Anya continued her self-defense.

It was a logical argument to anyone else.

But Liana wasn’t “anyone else.”

To her, they were both cut from the same dishonest cloth. She was tired of watching their little performance.

“It’s still dark. I’d like to put Theo back to sleep. Is that okay?” she asked, cutting through their exchange.

Elian shifted his gaze to Liana’s sharp eyes. “Yes.”

“But I’ve been taking care of Theo. Liana, you have classes in the morning. Let me handle it,” Anya insisted, moving closer.

Theo, seeing her approach, buried his face deeper into Liana’s neck, his little arms clinging tightly.

Liana immediately sensed his fear. “Don’t come any closer,” she said, her voice firm.

Anya stopped, feigning hurt. “Theo, sweetie, do you want Mommy or ma’am?”

“Ma’am. I want ma’am.”

This time, his choice was clear and firm, with no hint of pushing Liana away.

Elian’s brows knit tight, then he let out a quick smile.

A flash of venom crossed Anya’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a gentle, maternal smile. “Theo, she has to work soon. How about Mommy stays with you?”

“No!” He clung even tighter to Liana.

“We’re all tired. I’m sure you both are too. Why don’t you two go to the other room, or you can just leave,” Liana stated, settling on the edge of the bed with Theo her arms, waiting for them to go.

“Go to the other room with Anya?”

Elian felt a familiar frustration rising.

His wife was convinced he and Anya were having an affair, and he seemed utterly incapable of convincing her otherwise.

“Yeah, Elian and I are just friends. I like him, but we’re only friends. How could I steal my sister’s man?” Anya chimed in sweetly.

“Then get out.” Liana had had enough of the act.

Anya froze at the foot of the bed, unwilling to leave. She glanced at Elian, then at Theo in Liana’s arms, and said softly, “Theo, don’t you want Mommy? Mommy loves you most.”
