After hanging up, he wrapped both arms around her again. “It’s over.”

Liana let him hold her, her body trembling uncontrollably.

She didn’t know how much time passed. Finally, she lifted her head. In the soft glow of the bedside lamp, she saw the hard line of his jaw.

Elian stood with Liam by the shattered bathroom window.

“They came in here. Four of them. Late thirties, maybe. She can’t stay here,” Liam stated. “Someone’s targeting her.”

Elian didn’t say more. There was no way he was leaving her alone here now.

“One of them looked familiar. From the kidnapping.” Lana’s voice came from the bedroom doorway.

Both men turned to look at her, then exchanged a glance.

“Jay,” Liam called to one of the officers on the balcony. “Check the perpetrators from the last kidnapping case. They should still be in prison.”

“On it.” Jay headed out at once.

Liam could tell Liana had been terrified, but she was calm now. “You can’t stay here. The Lockes own half the city. Any of their properties is safer than this place.”

“What happened to your face? Did they hit you?”

Liana glanced at Elian but didn’t mention Anya.

Not because she wanted to shield anyone or play saint. She just didn’t want to bring it up.

After a few more words, he and his team left.
