His Hidden Family My Ruined Marriage (Liana) novel Chapter 227

Chapter 227 The Price of a Liver

Helena held the card between two fingers, offering it to Liana as if bestowing alms.

Liana gave the card a cold glance.

So my liver is only worth a hundred grand?

Hah!

“Take the money, and I won’t tell anyone,” Helena said, al high and mighty. “Otherwise, people will think the Forrest family raised a daughter so selfish she’d only donate a liver to her own grandpa if I paid her. But once you take it, you go and donate. Your grandpa can’t wait.”

“I can’t donate. I’ll accept this hundred grand, and then Ill pass it right back children’s livers,” Liana said, turning to leave.

“Not enough for you?”

you. Use it to buy your own

“No. It’s too much. Anya and Sean’s livers are more ‘noble. They’ll suit your family’s ‘noble’ bodies better.”

“You… How could Sean or Anya donate? They were raised delicately; they couldn’t endure such hardship. I mean-their health is far too fragile.”

Helena became agitated, but halfway through her speech, she realized she’d revealed her true feelings and quickly tried to backtrack.

“If I so much as suffer a single injury, I’ll be honest-I’ve already written a letter. If anything happens to me, someone will send that letter straight to the authority immediately.”

Liana dropped the words like ice and walked off.

Truth was, she envied them-envied that Anya and Sear had a mother who’d shield them like that.

But that didn’t mean she had to become the sacrificial lamb.

“Liana, you stop right there! You-”

Helena was about to chase after her when her phone rang.

“Mrs. Forrest, the hospital arrangements are ready. Just waiting for Mr. Gerald Forrest.”

“Got it. I’ll arrange it right away.”

Helena hung up, got back into her car, and immediately dialed another number. “Get to Riverview Avenue now. Keep that little bitch under close watch. The minute the time’s right, grab her and take her to the place I set up.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Meanwhile, Elian had arrived at Locke Medical Center.

Anya personally poured him a cup of coffee and brought it over. “Elian.”

“Thank you.”

Elian took it but immediately set it on the bedside table.

Anya watched him eagerly. Just his presence today made her happy.

He sat in the visitor’s chair by the hospital bed, his entire demeanor radiating an icy aloofness.

Seeing him look at her grandpa on the bed and not at her, Anya tucked her hair behind her ear and suddenly let out a soft, “Ow!”

She wanted to get his attention. He used to fuss over Theo when he got a mosquito bite.

But Elian didn’t react. It was Gerald in the bed whose expression darkened.

Hearing his granddaughter’s gasp, Gerald immediately looked at her swollen face, then glared coldly at Elian.

“Hmph! You just stood by and watched that bastard hit my granddaughter? Don’t you have anything to say for yourself, Elian?”.

Elian listened, then gave a faint, mocking smile. He brushed an imaginary speck from his trousers before leisurely turning his gaze to Gerald.

“That bastard?”

His voice was sharp and probing.

“She is a bastard! When her parents divorced, that slut insisted on having her. Thought a child would keep Lawrence tied to her. Pathetic. You’re right to divorce her. But you should be standing up for Anya! She’s a precious princess. No one’s ever laid a finger on her. How dare that bastard?”

Gerald grew angrier as he spoke, painting Liana as something lower than dirt.

Anya listened to her grandpa defending her, but after a glance at Elian, immediately piped up in a delicate voice, “Grandpa, please don’t talk about my sister like that.”

“Why shouldn’t I? She doesn’t deserve to have Forrest blood! Selfish and mean, just like her despicable mother. If she had any sense, she’d be here right now getting tested to donate to me.”

Hearing his granddaughter defend Liana only reinforced Gerald’s belief in her naive purity.
