Elian’s phone rang, a jarring intrusion. He broke the searing kiss, his deep eyes still fixed on the woman whose breath now came in short gasps.
He didn’t release her, fishing the device from his trouser pocket.
Of course-Anya.
He glanced at the screen, then back at Liana. He tapped the speakerphone icon and set it on the desk, his mouth descending on her again, this time trailing down her jaw.
When he sucked at her neck, Lianą couldn’t help a soft hum. She clamped her mouth shut right after, refusing to let a sound slip again.
Silence on the line for a moment. Elian, gently brushing her hair aside to continue, asked coolly, “What is it?”
“I just… I miss Theo so much. Elian, could someone bring him to the hospital to see me?”
Anya gripped her phone tightly. She’d heard a sound-like a woman’s soft hum. But they’d gone to the courthouse today, right? They should be divorced now.
So who was that woman? That homewrecker?
She didn’t dare ask directly, so she probed around the edges.
“Theo’s back with his nanny. Your focus should be on recovering,” Elian said, his eyes on the mark blooming on Liana’s neck.
He pressed a surprisingly tender kiss to it, then pulled back slightly.
Liana glared daggers at him—at that smug, all-knowing look he had like he owned the whole damn world. Then, out of nowhere, she made a ballsy move,
When her arms suddenly wrapped tighter around him, Elian’s breath hitched. Then he felt it- the sharp pressure of her teeth against his Adam’s apple…
He didn’t struggle. Didn’t move a muscle.
Confused, Liana stopped, pulling back slightly to search his face.
“A little harder, sweetheart. You’ll need more force than that.”
He tilted his head, his lips brushing her ear, his voice a low, intimate instruction on how to end him.

“Elian? What are you saying?” Anya’s voice came through, confused, knowing he was speaking
to someone.
The room had grown dim as clouds gathered outside, the intimate gloom amplifying the charged silence.
Liana’s lips trembled. She slowly released his throat.
Elian watched her, a strange, new fascination in his eyes. In over two years of marriage, he’d never known she could bite.
“Elian? Are you there?”
Anya’s voice again.
Liana, flustered, tried to shove him away. A hand instantly cupped the back of her neck, holding her in place.
Forced to meet his eyes, she cracked. The next second, her tears fell all at once.
“I missed you.”
He said it so lightly.
Those three words pressed heavy on Liana’s chest. Staring at him, she forgot to breathe.
She would never again hear those words and respond by wrapping her arms around his neck, whispering “me too.”
After everything, words like that just felt hollow, pathetic.
She hadn’t wanted to hurt him. Biting him was a petty, desperate attempt to make Anya hear something, to create doubt, to cause a fight between them, to show him she wasn’t passive.
But he hadn’t even flinched. Seeing the faint imprint of her teeth on his skin only made her push against him more fiercely.
“Let me go.”
“Can’t.”

She struggled, but it was useless. Elian’s hand tightened on her nape as he bent his head, capturing her mouth in a kiss that was sudden, deep, and utterly consuming.
It was like being caught in a sudden downpour-fierce, overwhelming, impossible to escape.
