If that image shattered, if people learned he had a secret family, his reputation would be ruined. The Locke Group would take a hit.

Hearing her threat, Elian merely gave a derisive chuckle. He leaned closer, one hand working on his belt buckle.

His voice was rough, whether from the bite or from desire, she couldn’t tell.

“I’m sure it would be a masterpiece. I look forward to reading it.”

He looks forward to it?

Liana stared, bewildered by his calm. The second she felt her pants unbuttoning, she grabbed his warm wrist. “Elian, we’re about to get divorced.”

Was there nothing in this world that scared him?

He could kiss her hard with Anya on the phone. Threaten his name, and he was still chill.

She desperately needed leverage, but her mind was blank.

Finally, tears welling, she asked in a broken whisper, “How are you any different from those kidnappers who tried to force me?”

Elian’s hands stilled. He looked up, meeting her tear-filled eyes, and something in his chest twisted.

Seeing his hesitation, Liana grew even more tense. His large hand came to rest on her lower abdomen, pressing down.

A new, sharper fear shot through her-fear for the tiny life she carried.

The more panicked she felt, the quieter she became. Her eyes just grew redder, silent tears tracking down her temples.

Not long ago, she’d been daydreaming about this baby, about their future. They wouldn’t have just one. She wanted at least two.

He was handsome, attentive, steady. Their children would be adorable and sweet.

She’d longed for a big, noisy family, for holidays filled with laughter and stories and belonging.

And then… he had another family.

And Theo was so sweet.

Remembering the boy offering her food yesterday sent a fresh, slicing pain through her.

Some heartbreaks arrive suddenly, then seep in slowly, quietly, corroding a once-healthy heart until it rots from the inside.

“Do you really have to make me out to be a monster?” Elian’s voice was strained.

They’d been married for over two years. He thought she knew him better than this.

“Am I wrong? Isn’t this what you’re doing?” She snapped back, finding her voice.

“Mrs. Locke, I’m your husband. Legally.” He reminded her, his voice grave.

“Not for much longer.”

After this, the title “Mrs. Locke” could go to whoever wanted it.

Her words left him speechless, frozen.

The phone in the study began ringing again. Elian looked down at the woman beneath him— eyes red, but spirit unbroken. He gave a slow, resigned nod. “Right. Not for much longer.”

He rolled off her abruptly.

The weight gone, Liana lay still for two seconds before turning onto her side, her body shaking with suppressed sobs.

She just didn’t understand. How could he choose Anya and still do this to her? She wished the divorce were final right now.

Then the bedroom door slammed shut.

Her trembling stopped. After a moment, she turned.

The phone in the study was still ringing, muffled now by the closed door.

And the man who had just stormed out was back, striding across the room. He seized her wrists in one swift motion, pinning her beneath him once more. “Liana, as long as I’m still your husband, I intend to act like one. And right now, I want you.”

That afternoon, the storm finally broke.

“Mrs. Locke, you can’t keep using that as your trump card.”
