Even her feet were sweet…

“Mrs. Locke, where do you want to go? I’ll take you,” Elian said, walking to the foot of the stairs. A faint smile played in his long, narrow eyes as he asked politely.
Liana stood on the second step, slightly taller than him at that moment, yet she felt utterly tiny, like a sparrow before a hawk.
“Cat got your tongue? I’m not trying to restrict you. I’m just concerned about your leg,” he reasoned, his logic sound.
Her leg did ache terribly.
She held her composure, meeting his gaze silently for a long moment before looking past him toward the large window.
The floor-to-ceiling glass, streaked with rain, looked exceptionally romantic.
She used to love the rain the most. The moment raindrops slowly slid down a windowpane felt like something out of a fairytale.
And now?
She still loved it.
“Then take me downstairs.”
“And have the doctor come all this way for nothing? That doesn’t seem right, does it?” Elian asked, his posture relaxed, yet his tone serious.
Liana listened, sighed internally, and looked back out the window.
Seeing her stare outside, Elian suggested, “Why not take a look around the place first? The night view over there is quite something. You’d probably like the rainy window scene even more. Once the doctor checks you and confirms no bones are broken, I’ll drive you both home. How does that sound?”
He sounded so matter-of-fact that any further refusal would have felt like she was being difficult.
It would be rude to have the doctor come out in this storm for nothing.

But he was blocking the stairs. She could only look at him, her eyes signaling for him to move.
Elian, hands in his pockets, stepped aside.
As Liana took a step, a wave of awkwardness hit her. Her high heels were soaked.
Pretending she was properly shod, she walked-face flushed with embarrassment-as quickly as she could toward the window.
Well, she tried to walk quickly. In reality, it was a struggle. She felt like she might collapse at any
moment.
The back of her leg, where she’d been hit, throbbed with a growing, swollen pain.
Reaching the window, she looked out at the nightscape and was struck by its breathtaking beauty.
The sea during a rainstorm was even more enchanting.
Liana was so absorbed that she didn’t notice the reflection in the glass until a figure bent down beside her leg. She snapped back to reality and looked down.
Elian crouched, setting a pair of fluffy, white slippers by her feet.
“Wear these. They’re brand new.”
“Thank you,” Liana mumbled, deeply embarrassed but quickly slipping her feet into the slippers.
They felt like stepping into a cloud, warm and soft almost instantly.
She didn’t dare look at him directly, but in the glass reflection, she saw him calmly take the high heels and the bag of wet clothes from her hand.
“They won’t get lost,” was all he said.
Liana didn’t respond. They were just waiting now, after all.
But Elian couldn’t help his gaze lingering on her figure, his breath catching slightly.
She looked like a fairy who had descended to earth.
“Liana?” he suddenly called softly.
“Hmm?” She turned her puzzled gaze toward him.
Elian’s deep eyes were gentle and soft, his voice low and pleasing. “Did I ever tell you you’re

Liana was stunned. Before her mind could even process the words, her face was burning.
Anyone listening would think he was confessing his feelings.
She took two more steps closer to the window, wrapping her arms around herself.
“Maybe… we shouldn’t bother the doctor? The rain is too heavy,” she murmured, changing the subject.
“No other woman has ever been here,” he continued, as if he hadn’t heard her.
Liana didn’t catch it clearly, only hearing something about “woman.” She glanced up, only daring to look at his blurred reflection in the glass.
Elian knew she hadn’t heard, but he didn’t repeat himself. Instead, he turned and went back to the kitchen.
This place wasn’t like her small apartment, where you could cross the room in a few steps. But the space gave her a chance to breathe and relax.
When the doorbell rang, Liana hurried to answer it.
A female doctor stood at the door. “You’re the one with the leg injury?”
“Yes,” Liana replied, feeling nervous under the beautiful woman’s gaze.
“I’m Sierra Sage. Elian and Xander’s crowd call me Sierra. You can call me that too,” she introduced herself.
“Hello, I’m Liana.” Liana nodded, confirming this was the doctor Elian mentioned.
“You’re Liana? Elian’s wife?”
Sierra looked her over more carefully, recalling what Elian’s childhood friends had said about her-a conservative middle school teacher, married for over two years without producing an heir, an old-fashioned “dud.”
The woman before her wore only a dark green men’s dress shirt, tied at the waist with a necktie in a simple knot that perfectly outlined her slender figure. The hem fell loosely like a skirt, ending just at the perfect point on her thighs, revealing a pair of stunningly long legs. Combined with her thick, waterfall-like blonde hair, she looked like a siren.
“Yes, but we’re in the process of getting a divorce,” Liana admitted, then quickly clarified.
Sierra glanced at her again, a knowing smile playing on her lips. “Elian would divorce a beauty
