His Secret Child, Her Revenge: Remarrying Up novel Chapter 13

Chapter 13 Manipulating the Heart

“Yes. Because… you’re in that photo too.”

Silas was silent for a few beats. “What do you mean?”

“We’re married, but we never even took wedding photos,” Jasmine said. “I don’t have a single photo of just you. When I missed you, I didn’t know how to cope. So I…”

She let out a heavy sigh. “I used that photo. I was looking at it a few days ago and forgot to put it back in the drawer.”

Silas was stuck on the phrase “missed you.”

He looked at her with disbelief. “You… missed me?”

Jasmine sighed again. “You’re my husband. Who else would I miss?”

Silas’s expression visibly thawed, though he tried to keep his tone neutral. “You see me every day. Why would you miss me?”

Jasmine lowered her voice. “I don’t think I’ll be seeing you every day anymore.”

Not with him spending every waking moment with his sister-in-law.

Silas caught her meaning and couldn’t help but chuckle.

“I didn’t realize you were capable of being jealous.”

Jasmine stayed pointedly silent.

Silas reached out and brushed her hair. “Alright. It was an accident. I’ll explain things to Felicity.”

He started to stand up to leave.

Jasmine laughed inwardly while rubbing her eyes.

D*mn. Too much onion. My eyes actually sting.

Silas thought she was crying again and sat back down.

“You really did get the short end of the stick today, giving up your room and all. Don’t worry. Once Felicity finishes her recovery month, I’ll have her move back with Mom and Grandma.”

Jasmine thought, Like I give a d*mn!

But she said, “You know I’m hurt and feeling ignored, yet you came in here ready to crucify me. Do I really mean that little to you?”

“Silas, I am your wife.”

Seeing her look so vulnerable, Silas found he couldn’t leave.

“Alright, sweetheart. I’ll stay with you tonight.”

Jasmine shook her head. “You should go check on Felicity. I’ll be fine.”

“No,” Silas said. “You were right. You’re my wife. I shouldn’t keep ignoring you.”

The words rang hollow, but Jasmine pretended to believe them.

She froze for a moment.

“Jasmine.” Silas’s gaze was tender as a satisfied smile played on his lips. “You’ve really changed these past two days.”

“Changed how?”

“You’re sweeter. More understanding.”

Jasmine offered a serene smile. “I just realized there’s no point in fighting it. Besides, everyone is so much happier with Leo here. I’m happy for the family.”

Silas felt like something was off.

“The family? Aren’t you part of this family too?”

Jasmine just gave him a fake smile and said nothing.
