Theodore made a grand gesture, gifting his newborn grandson a house valued at well over fifty million dollars. It was a move that certainly made Felicity feel honored.

With deep emotion in her eyes, Felicity turned to Silas. “Silas, after Dad lost so much money not too long ago, giving such an expensive gift now… It really shows how much he treasures his grandson-and how much he values you, too.”

Silas pulled his wandering thoughts back to the moment. Today was supposed to be a celebration, so why did he feel this lingering heaviness in his chest?

Noticing his distraction, Theodore motioned for him to come over.

Steeling himself, Silas walked over. Before he could speak, Madeline took the lead.

“Silas, I just finished talking with Theodore about you and Felicity,” she said, her tone leaving little room for debate. “I made my position clear, and Theodore fully supports it. Now, I want to hear what you have to say.”

Silas hated feeling backed into a corner. “Grandma, today is Leo’s day. Can we discuss Felicity and me after the party?”

“Why wait?” Madeline replied smoothly. “Since Theodore is here, we might as well settle this. You’ve already signed the divorce papers with that woman. Go down to the courthouse first thing tomorrow and finalize the divorce certificate. Let’s get this done quickly, so Felicity and Theodore can have some peace of mind.”

Silas grasped for excuses like a drowning man reaching for driftwood. “Even after the divorce is finalized, there’s still a six-month waiting period before anything can be announced publicly. Anything between Felicity and me would have to wait until then.”

Madeline waved a dismissive hand. “I’ve already taken care of that. You won’t need to wait six months. Once the divorce is official, I’ll make sure it’s announced in a way that doesn’t harm your reputation.”

Defeated, Silas let his shoulders slump. What was the point of arguing?

He never really had a choice to begin with-not unless he was willing to walk away from the Vance family empire altogether.

“I’ll do as you say, Grandma.”

A satisfied smile touched Madeline’s lips. “That’s my boy.”

Just then, the doorbell rang.

The housekeeper, Gloria, went to answer it, expecting another guest for the celebration. Instead, she found a courier standing at the doorstep.

He handed her a plain envelope. “See that this gets to Silas Vance.”

Gloria lifted her chin slightly. “You mean Mr. Vance? You can’t just throw around his full name like that.

The courier shot her an unimpressed look. “Just deliver it. It’s important.”

With that, he turned and left.

Muttering under her breath, Gloria carried the envelope over to Silas. “A delivery for you, Mr. Vance.”

Silas glanced at it. “What is it?”

“No idea,” she said. “The guy insisted it was urgent and told me to hand it to you directly.”/

Silas took the envelope and opened it slowly. A single sheet of white paper unfolded in his hands.

At the top, two bold letters stood out: Court Summons.

Below, the official header of the court and a case number left no doubt-this was real, not some prank.

Silas’ face went pale. Around him, the other members of the Vance family froze, their expressions turning

tense.

None of them could have imagined that Jasmine would go this far-serving legal papers right here at Kingsley Bay, filing for divorce through the courts.

It meant she was ready to burn every bridge with the Vances. And she was prepared to air their dirty laundry in public.

What had begun as a joyous day suddenly turned grim. That one piece of paper cast a shadow over the entire household, leaving even Theodore in a foul mood.

Victoria was the first to voice her panic. “Madeline, what do we do? That woman already signed the agreement. We promised her five million-wasn’t that the end of it? Now she pulls this? She’s clearly trying to drag us down with her.”

“Keep your voice down,” Madeline hissed, shooting her a sharp look. “With everyone still here, do you want to make a scene? Don’t lose your composure. We’ll set this aside for now. Getting through Leo’s party without a hitch is what matters today.”

Theodore’s eyes hardened with a cold resolve. “She deliberately chose today to send this. She wants to shake us up and ruin Leo’s celebration. We can’t fall into that trap. Everyone, act as if nothing happened. We’ll deal with this after the guests are gone.”

Silas crumpled the summons into a tight ball in his fist.

Jasmine…

You’ve really outdone yourself.

The one-month celebration for the youngest Vance heir eventually drew to a close, laughter and cheerful farewells filling the air until the last guest had left.
