Back when she had been drugged that night, if it hadn’t been for Vivienne stepping in, things could have turned really ugly.

By the time the phone rang for the third time, Silas had returned to the table.

He glanced at the screen and casually hit “decline”.

The phone stayed quiet after that.

But Jasmine had a feeling Vivienne probably needed to reach him about something urgent.

After all, the woman didn’t strike her as the type to overstep without good reason.

A smart mistress-especially one who had to keep a low profile-usually knew better than to call a married man out of the blue.

That kind of move could easily stir up trouble at home.

Jasmine had always put Vivienne in the “clever” category, so she made a point of saying to Silas, “Could be important. Aren’t you going to call her back?”

Silas played it cool.

“Just a vendor. I’ll handle it tomorrow.”

Jasmine smiled faintly.

“Since when do your vendors work at Eclipse Lounge?”

Silas went still.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

Jasmine just kept smiling and didn’t answer.

Silas didn’t like being toyed with.

“You’ve been checking up on me?”

Jasmine raised a brow.

“I don’t have that kind of free time.”

“Then how do you know about her?”

Jasmine took her time finishing her dessert.

“I saw her at Eclipse once. Then another day, you took her to that bistro-ran into you both again. Small world, huh?”

Silas looked caught off guard for a second, but he recovered quickly.

“I bring important clients to the lounge all the time. She’s usually our host. We ended up talking here and there, but it’s strictly a friendship.”

See?

What did she tell herself?

This was Silas.

No matter how questionable his actions were, he could always spin an excuse and make it sound almost reasonable.

Jasmine didn’t even have the energy to call him out.

It wasn’t her problem anymore anyway. The one who deserved to be upset was her soon-to-be ex-sister- in-law.

Jasmine said she’d head home on her own.

She shouldn’t keep Silas from returning his sweetheart’s call.

Silas insisted on driving her.

So Jasmine got back into his car.

The whole ride, Silas stayed silent.

Jasmine glanced over at him a couple of times.

His lips were pressed into a thin line, like he was turning something serious over in his mind.

The car finally pulled up at Moonlight Terrace.

Silas stepped out, came around the front, and opened the passenger door.

Jasmine assumed he was just being polite, so she didn’t think much of it.

| But then-

After opening the door, Silas suddenly leaned in, climbing halfway into the seat and caging her beneath

him.

His eyes went soft, almost tender.

“Jasmine.”

Jasmine braced a hand behind her. “What are you doing?”

Silas’ lips brushed close to the corner of her mouth.

“Let me stay tonight.”

Jasmine felt a wave of disgust.

“That’s not happening.”

“Why not? Until those divorce papers are signed, we’re still husband and wife. It’s perfectly normal fora married couple to spend the night together.”

Jasmine pushed against his chest, but he didn’t budge.

“Silas, what do you actually want?”

His next words threw her off.

“I want you.”

Jasmine stopped struggling but turned her face away from his lips.

“Don’t be ridiculous. We agreed. After tonight, we go our separate ways.”

Silas pressed closer.

“That starts tomorrow. But tonight… I really don’t want to leave you like this.”

He breathed in the light scent clinging to her neck.

“You know, Jasmine… Back when we slept together before, it was just physical. But now…

“It’s not just that anymore. I actually want you by my side. Like it used to be. Just be with me. Put up with me.”

Jasmine let out a cold laugh.

“Keep dreaming.”

“But I promise, I won’t treat you the way I did before. As long as you act right, you can have anything you want. I’ll give you whatever you ask for.”

Jasmine felt like she was listening to nonsense.

“Anything I want? You sure about that?”

“I’m sure.”

“Fine.” Jasmine’s voice was icy. “Then for my sake, will you give up everything I don’t like?”

Silas stared at her beautiful face like he wanted to take a bite out of it.

“Hmm?”
