Just then, Gloria stepped forward to report. “Silas, Chloe is still refusing to eat. She’s throwing a tantrum in

her room.”

Silas frowned. “I’ll go check on her.”

The room was a total disaster, with expensive cosmetics scattered everywhere. Liquid from the shattered bottles stained the pristine white carpet, making Silas frown even deeper.

“Chloe! Enough already,” he snapped. “Haven’t you thrown enough of a fit?”

Though the swelling on Chloe’s face had gone down considerably, her resentment had only deepened. “Silas, I know that thug was acting on Jasmine’s orders!” she insisted.

Silas’s expression darkened. “The matter is settled. Don’t bring it up again.”

“Silas!” Chloe screamed. “I am your own sister! I was beaten to a pulp, and you don’t care at all?!”

“It already happened, so what do you want me to do? Go beat someone up for you?” Silas countered. “As a daughter of the Vance family, can you please watch your behavior? If you hadn’t gone out of your way to bully Jasmine in the first place, would she have locked you in that room? You brought this on yourself.”

“Silas!” Chloe was livid. “You’re still defending that bitch! What has she done, cast a spell on you?”

Hearing her call Jasmine a bitch pushed Silas over the edge. “Chloe! This is the last time I am warning you: you will treat Jasmine with respect from now on. Remember, she will always be your sister-in-law!”

Blinded by fury, Chloe completely lost control of her mouth. “I don’t want her as my sister-in-law, I want Felicity! Now that Julian is gone and you have a child with Felicity anyway, you can just divorce that woman and marry her! Besides, Grandma and the others want the same thing, and I know you’ve noticed!”

“Shut your mouth!” Silas roared.

“I won’t!” Chloe cried, completely hysterical. “Do you really think I’m stupid? You think I don’t know how you and Felicity really had that baby? All that talk about frozen sperm is a lie-the two of you slept together!”

Silas stood frozen, stunned into silence for a long moment. “How… how did you find out?”

It took a while, but Chloe finally regained her composure. Silas kept his eyes locked on her. “I’m asking you a question. How do you know?”

Only Madeline and Victoria knew the truth about what had happened between him and Felicity. They had kept it from Chloe, thinking she was too young to understand, telling her instead that Felicity’s pregnancy was the result of using Silas’s frozen sperm to carry on Julian’s legacy.

Chloe began to stutter, stalling for time.

Silas was losing his patience. “Tell me! How do you know?”

“I…I overheard you and Felicity talking that day,” she admitted.

Silas felt the urge to strike her, but she was his sister-he couldn’t bring himself to do it. After along. labored breath, he gave her a stern warning. “This stays between us. Do you hear me?”

Chloe wasn’t completely dense. “I know that, obviously. I’ve never told a soul.”

Silas felt a sharp tightness in his chest. “And you especially are not to say a word to Jasmine

Chloe looked at him, confused. “Doesn’t she already know?”

Silas stiffened. “What did you say?”

Seeing his reaction, Chloe grew timid and confessed the whole truth. “Well, I saw how close she was getting with that Mr. Grant, and I thought they might be having an affair. So, I snuck into her room when she wasn’t looking, and I found a photo in her drawer.”

Silas’s heart leaped into his throat. “What kind of… photo?”

“It was a picture of you and Felicity checking into that hotel,” Chloe said.

When Silas left Chloe’s room, he was dazed, unable to process what he’d just heard. Once his head finally cleared, he bolted straight for Jasmine’s room.
