Hearing that, Winifred quickly tugged on his sleeve, signaling him not to be so harsh.
Yvan raised a hand, silently telling her to stay out of it.
York was stunned. No one had ever dared to speak to him with such a tone.
He said unhappily, "Who are you to Dr. Spencer? Does she share your opinion?"
"I'm her friend," Yvan said. "Since this is your attitude, I'll just talk to your hospital director instead!"
He hung up.
On the other end of the line, York was fuming. Talk to the director? Did this guy have any idea that the director's daughter, Cornelia, had a grudge against Winifred?
Frankly, there were ways to solve this dispute. The patient had no evidence and was just making baseless accusations. The hospital had grounds to sue him for slander, extortion, and disrupting medical order, which could land him in jail for at least a year or so.
But suing someone took time, energy, and money. Going after a deadbeat like him was a thankless task; they wouldn't get much money even if they won.
Besides, Winifred was just a dentist with no connections, and she had managed to offend the director's daughter.
To curry favor with Cornelia, York had deliberately taken a passive approach to the matter.
He figured he'd let the man harass Winifred for a while. If she couldn't take it and quit on her own, then he would have done Cornelia a big favor and earned major points with the director.
York scoffed at Yvan's threat.
Here, as soon as Yvan hung up, he dialed Zebulon Johnson. Zebulon, knowing it was Yvan, didn't dare say he couldn't handle it. He just said he would reprimand his subordinate and ensure Winifred received justice.
Yvan knew he was just being placated and lost all hope in the hospital. He hung up and said to Dr. Ross, "We want to transfer to another hospital. Please handle the paperwork."
Winifred was startled. "Transfer where?"
